“Terrible food. Not edible.”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

Stopped at Pedros hot tamale restaurant. Worst restaurant (if you can call it that) I have ever been to. The ginger ale burned my throat going down. Had an abysmal, peppery taste. Waited a while for the microwaved mystery meat hot dog when advertised as all beef. Hot dog was rubbery and the bun was chewy. I couldn't manage to finish the meal. How can you mess up a hot dog?? Husband's burger was rubbery and friends nachos looked like chips and diahrea. Don't waste your time or money. Keep driving until you find anything else.....

“The place seemed deserted”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Our plan was to get a quick lunch somewhere within South of the Border. There are so many billboards building you up to some fantastic place. When we arrived, soon after noon, the place seemed deserted. The Hot Tamale had no cars and didn't appear opened. The largest restaurant was opened (not many people) but we didn't want a full meal. Unless you are interested in purchasing a sombrero in the gift store, there wasn't much there except clean bathrooms. We were disappointed.

“It's a 24 hour snack bar”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

It is finally off my list to conquer. I may do it again. It is a simple menu, burgers, dogs, breakfast sanwiches, and a "24 hour mexican menu" (tamale's, nachos, chili, and I think tacos). The soft drinks come in one size. There is orange juice, and milk. I had the infamous tamale (that you see on their billboards). It is shaped more like the canned, than the hand made-but not covered in a greasy sauce like the canned. It is steamed, you receive 2 in a hot dog styrofoam container and two packets of hot sauce that are hotter than Texas Pete, but milder than tabasco ($3.95). Would we do it again, maybe. The staff seemed half asleep. It is within walking distance of the bathrooms (where there is a grassy area for Fidom to take care of business).
