We recently moved to this area. We were told by multiple people to eat here. We decided to give it a try on a sat night. We had trouble figuring out what all the raves were about?
First off - our party of 6 had to sit separate. I didn't see any table options for a party our size.
Second - it's clearly a place well know by "locals" and while staff was busy, they didn't have time to even acknowledge whether we seated ourselves, ordered at the counter etc. That was awkward and frustrating for new residents.
Third - the food was just ok. 2 people in my party ordered hot dogs that they took one bite and didn't eat. Another person in my party had Mac n cheese which was dry, crusty and looked like it had been sitting out all day.
The catfish, fried pickles and the hush puppies were enjoyable. The rest of our orders: hamburger steak, chili dog and hamburger were edible but not outstanding as everyone has raved.
Lastly - the service. Our waitress was nice but had an "I'm busy - what do you want?" demeanor about her. That to me is off putting. Several times people in my party (at both tables) asked questions and she just walked off without hearing or answering. She brought us the bill and never explained where we paid it. After 10 mins of waiting on her to come back (she didn't) we asked another server who explained you have to go up to the counter to pay out. While checking out she asked if everything was ok. I said "no - 2 of our meals were not good and didn't get eaten". She merely shrugged and charged me for everything anyways. The clock in Greer on W. Poinsett is not on our list of places to return to.
