“Yummy Gyros”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

We've been twice since they opened and have been very happy each time. Nice atmosphere and good service combined with yummy Mediterranean food. Gyros platter is highly recommended. Best hummus in town. A carafe of very nice house Cabernet topped it off. Greenville has lots of great restaurants but the Grape Leaf is definitely worth a try.

“This place is the real deal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

Yes, if you like Mediterrean food, hummus, pita bread, gyros, the flavors and tastes and smells that are traditionally Mediterrean...then you will love this place. It is run by people from the Mediterrean area...and they are wonderful hosts and restaurant owners. We had dinner there this week and could not have been more pleased. The service was outstanding, the food was excellent, (we had hummus appetizer and gyros plates)..the food is plentiful and excellent. They have a full bar and a wonderful diverse menu. The prices are reasonable and there is a wide selection. I'm sure when bball season gets into full swing you will not be able to get a table in this restaurant before a game. It's that good. Make sure you stop in the next time you are in the West End.

“Really good Mediterranean food, low prices...LOCATION!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

Went to the grape leaf with some friends on Monday. The place has been open less than a month, so it's a new spot to try! The food was incredible, but let's start with the service and drinks. Lots of specialty cocktails. I tried a martini with a citrus splash and it was fantastic. The server brought complimentary babghanoush for us to nibble on while picking our food. We got the appetizer sampler - 4 apps for around $12...what? Did I mention they are downtown? Please run to this place for the prices alone. We tried the cheese pie, falafel, kibbeh and hummus. The hummus was the creamiest one I have had the pleasure of eating. The falafel -- much better than Pita House, imho. I have never had the beef croquette called kibbeh and it was light and flavorful -- not greasy. Fried to perfection. Tahini was brought along with a minty yogurt sauce to use if we wished. Both delicious. We went on to have the shish tawook (chicken kebabs), and the Gyro plate & salad. All the meals come with a really refreshing riff on a greek salad, some plates come with hummus, and the kebab came with rice. The chicken on that skewer was slightly crisp on the outside and moist and tasty on the inside. Very good. The gyro meat, while a little done for my taste was seasoned nicely. The kebabs are quite a nice serving under $13, the gyro plate was under 9 and the gyro salad under $7. Again...what? That's awesome! Go to this little spot and make them successful, it's too hidden a secret...only 4 or 5 tables were there when we were eating...but it was a Monday night. The owner even came by at the end to see how everything was. Nice touch. Very personal. I'll be back soon!!!
