“True southern charm with 5 star service!”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

I have stayed in this hotel many times. The Westin in the most charming & historical hotel in the city, located in the gorgeous downtown strip. They offer spacious & very clean rooms with super comfortable beds, impeccable guest service, & a gorgeous lobby with an old-timey feeling swanky bar. They also offer beautiful venues for weddings, corporate events, etc. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It doesn't get better! I've had a great experience every time!

Had a block of rooms for my daughters wedding weekend. All of our guests raved about the beauty of the hotel and how kind and professional all of the staff was. We all had a wonderful time there. Will stay there again.

We chose this hotel because we love Westin. We didnt find out about its historical significance until later and that was cool too.

We chose to stay in a suite so we would have a space slightly larger than a bed room, in case it rained and we were stuck inside, which did happen once.

Our first Westin hotel was the Westin in Savannah, GA 2 years ago, and let's go ahead and say the Poinsett is in no way like the Savannah Westin. The Poinsett is a historic hotel that it seems Westin acquired and has desired to maintain the historic look, which we totally appreciate.

All in all, it was a fine stay, but just be warned: there is not a refrigerator in the room, even in the Suites which I find rediculous. I learned this after we were arrived and I searched the Internet and found an informative review that detailed the same finding. The manager Fabian, responded and said they would reassess their complimentary policies. That was in 2010 - so obviously this is not a concern of his.

That is all, nice place just know it not as modern as the Marriott or the Hyatt seem to be.

Dear Guest,

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you appreciated the fact that we are a Historic hotel. In regard to the refrigerator, we actually have changed our policy many months ago and do not charge for it. When staying with us next, please simply call our Service Express and we will be delighted to have one delivered to your room at no cost. Allow me to mention some of our other complimentary services: high speed internet in all guest rooms and public space, airport transportation, serviced golf cart usage in downtown, 24 hour gym, coffee station in the lobby for early risers, microwaves, a variety of local and national newspapers, Starbucks coffee in your guest room, late check outs on Sundays and house made cookies during check in. We hope to have you stay with us soon again.

This is a perfect spot for out-of-towners to overnight after an evening at the nearby Peace Center. The hotel is interesting and well-appointed, but it was the greeting as we pulled in and the quick check-in at reception that gave us the great first impression. Special notice goes to the really great beds and the oh-so-wonderful shower!

I made this mistake unknowingly. This was my first adventure on Priceline, and probably my last. I have stayed at this Westin and I paid 175.00 a night with breakfast, but it was VERY comfortable. We spent money inside of the hotel and ended up with a fairly large bill for 1 night.

This time I booked Priceline.com and got a much more reasonable rate. I was very excited to have gotten a bargain and was looking forward to staying at this old, stately hotel. When I checked in, The young lady wanted to know if I wanted a room with a view of the street. We were very happy until we looked at the room - DOUBLE BEDS! I mean" The Heavenly Bed" , but it was very small compared to our King size bed. I immediately called called the front desk and asked for a King Size, but I was told that ALL the King size beds were booked for the Monday and Tuesday nights. None were available!
THIS is what happens when you book Priceline.com - you get the least desirable room in the house ! The air conditioner never got below 75 degrees, and the room hadn't been dusted in days or weeks.
Needless to say, I didn't spend any more money in the hotel, and walked across the street to buy beverages and snacks .

Room Tip: Use their STG rewards to book a room - not a discounter !

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback about your recent stays. I am very sorry that we did not have a king bed available. If you decide to return to Greenville, please check the room rates on our official website. You will find that they are very comparable to third party engines, if not better in most instances. We would love to have you return and fully enjoy the Westin Heavenly King Bed. Regarding the AC, we just installed a brand new chiller for the building, guaranteeing the perfect temperature at all times. Thank you again.

My husband and I were in Greenville for a quick getaway from Atlanta.

We choose the Westin Poinsett for it's great location and the fact that it's a historic building with character.

The hotel was beautiful and had a gorgeous lobby bar. The room was very well appointed with the most comfortable bed, dual shower heads, full hairdryer, and a spacious bathroom.

Check-in was nice and easy and the front desk clerk was very pleasant. She even asked if I had a preference on room location and I asked for a quiet room. We got a corner room at the end of the hall away from any noise.

The only downside is that our view was onto concrete platforms of sorts and the wall of the building next door. We solved this by just keeping our curtains shut. I think this was the compromise we made to have a quiet room.

The location is perfect, walking distance to everything in Downtown Greenvile. We walked to restaurants, Fluor field to catch a baseball game, and the park as well.

Dear Guest,

It is wonderful to hear that you took full advantage of everything our hotel and city has to offer. The comfortable bed and dual shower head are Westin Heavenly products that can be purchased for your home. Our convenient location in downtown Greenville does make it easy for our guests to explore the city, we even provide complimentary rides in our golf cart to go up and down Main Street. We hope that you and your husband will return for another getaway with us, soon.

I stayed here for one night recently and really enjoyed the hotel. The front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly as were the employees at the entrance. The room was lovely and well appointed and I had a view of the square. Very nice quality hotel ambiance throughout. Room service was prompt and cordial. Excellent job! As a plus Greenville's Main Street was nice for a pleasant walk.
