“Great history of Textile Industry, local culture”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

This is a great place to go to learn about the culture that sprang up in the Mill Hills surrounding the textile factories established in the late 1800's. Things you might not know: mills had their own baseball teams and some famous players (Shoeless Joe Jackson) got their starts playing for the mills they worked in. Also rotating exhibits, last time I was there, an exhibit of 20th-century to current native american pottery was on display. I love this museum, if you visit the upstate, and want to know some of what it's about, go!

“History, the good, the bad, the ugly”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

Great museum that tells the history of the SC Upcountry. It presents the good and the bad, something unusually. Well worth the time

“Fascinating Museum”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

The Upcountry History Museum, which opened in 2007, provides a comprehensive and informative history of the Upcountry of South Carolina. There are a number of multimedia presentations and everything is tastefully done. Anyone who is new to South Carolina, and particularly that area in and around the Blue Ridge Mountains, would do well to visit this museum. It is first rate.
