“hotel is just okay”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

I have been coming to embassy suites for years. Usually it is just my wife and myself, and we spend a lot if time in the bar. Great place for us to have dinner and relax with a couple drinks. Service was okay through the week but the bartender (who has been there as long as we have been coming to this location) made us feel like more of a hassle than anything. We extended our stay through the weekend and had a different bartender (Lee) who went out of her way to make us feel like we were at home. Service was superb!!! Our last day we had some friends with children meet us for dinner and the restaurant had closed early. They did not want there younger children eating in the bar area but as we talked to Lee she offered to serve us just outside the bar. Something she didn't have to do but like I said she cared about making us comfortable. Kudos to her!!! The rooms were okay, nothing exceptional, but just fine. Managers reception was great as well along with cook to order breakfast. We will be returning but only on the weekends if we plan on spending time at the bar. Overall, excellent hotel.

Thank you for your wonderful compliments on Lee, one of our outstanding associates in our lounge area. Knowing our restaurant bleeds into the bar area, Lee's proactive approach at suggesting the outside area for dining, could be used during the week as well. As you know the outside lawn and terrace level, is a highlighted feature on our property. The rushed service midweek, is a training issue and will be corrected with the help of your critique.
We are in the process of changing our restaurant menu, so hope you will come try us out in the near future.

Stayed here for three nights with my wife and everything was fantastic. The grounds are beautiful with a lot to do. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. The free breakfast is one of the best! Will stay here again.

We stayed in March 2013 while attending the Homeschooling Conference at the TD Convention Center. It was great. A big, healthy, fresh, HOT breakfast helped us to begin every day with energy and vigor. The staff was super nice and hospitable. We also ordered room service, reasonable price for pizza. Housekeeping was very accommodating. We would definitely stay again. We were able to stay at a $99 rate b/c of the convention rate.

The hotel is a decent option for the area. The decor could use an update. Given that the bedroom is in the rear of the suite any outside noise is muted. The breakfast is typical Embassy Suites fare with buffet style with cook to order items. The manager's reception could use an upgrade to the drink selection. No issues with the staff. Workout facilities were useful. Did not use the restaurant, pool or business center. Wifi was fine for my IPad but did not use for my computer. A good hotel but not stellar.

Embassy suites is always a nice place to stay: comfortable beds, nice rooms, clean bathrooms. I also love the full breakfast that is included & the free nightly manager's reception with snacks & drinks.

We abruptly left home to spend the night in Greenville at the Embassy Suites and had a great just-get-out-of-the-house trip. It is out of the way and that's what we liked about it. The road it sits on was never congested and the rear of the property has nice views of the golf course. There's ample free parking and transportation provided for the course, though we don't golf. It's all of 5 minutes to Woodruff Road with plenty of shopping and the Haywood Mall is about a 10 minute drive. Yes, you need a car or call in advance for a DD taxi. This is Greenville, not NYC. There's a bar and restaurant on site. We had a couple drinks at the bar, little pricey, but I would think normal for a hotel bar. We did not try the restaurant or the complimentary evening snacks and drinks. The breakfast buffet was very good. There were grits, eggs, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, bacon, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, juices, coffee and an omelette station. If you can't find something for breakfast here it's certainly not the hotel's fault. Having breakfast in the courtyard with the water features, sunlight and coi was the perfect start to the day.

The value of this hotel is its best feature. The breakfast buffet, pleasant courtyard and large suites are an amazing deal for the rate. The suite has a bedroom with closet, living room and bathroom. The bathroom was a little on the small side for some people I'm sure but we aren't bathroom dwellers and there was plenty of counterspace. I'd much rather have space in the living quarters of a hotel room. Each room had a flat screen tv and desk; the living area also had a wet bar with microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. Personally, I enjoyed the inroom coffee. We had a skylight view from the living room and a golf course view from the bedroom. There's also indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub and fitness room. The fitness room is for adults only and the indoor pool has some adult only hours. We didn't use any of these but would try the pool if we brought our daughter back. The indoor pool seemed a bit small in comparison to the number of rooms but wasn't crowded when we checked it out. In fact there were at least two conferences going on and there was still plenty of seats in the courtyard and we never waited long for an elevator. The front desk staff were very friendly.

If you wanted to be nit picky there were some air vents in the room near the ceiling that appeared dusty. Otherwise our room was perfectly clean and very comfortable. Once as we were packing to leave housekeeping lightly knocked and came in before we really realized someone had knocked. She was apologetic though and I suppose we should have hung the do not disturb sign to avoid that. I also wish there was a designated outdoor smoking area (but I wish that everywhere). No smoking in a hotel is a novel idea, defeated when you have to walk through the puff cloud to get to your car. Speaking of, there was a cute little red convertible parked right in the check in only zone for literally our entire stay. We had to weave around it and the other cars who were actually checking in to roll our luggage out, if we'd had the baby with us it would have been really annoying. Not so cute. The wifi was $10 a day and we didn't use it. There were some odd characters about, like the woman sitting in the courtyard saturday night in her swimsuit who's obviously not caught on to the idea of a cover up and a group of people bringing their BYOB down from their room to enjoy right beside the bar. But there was also a security guard patrolling so I didn't expect anything to get out of hand.

Thank you for the complimentary detailed critique of your weekend getaway. Your illustrative descriptors were well thought out-they sounded better than our brochure! My apologies about the housekeeping knocking. I was glad to hear it was quiet, knowing the housekeeper has to respect privacy, while attempting to clean a large number of rooms. We have such a large amount of outside land that we can offer several outside smoking options, which seems to please the majority of our smoking guests. Additional gratitude for mentioning a private car sitting in front of the hotel. We try to monitor our front entrance closely in an effort to keep traffic flowing-your detailed desription of the car left alone for most of the weekend, will help us watch for it. We look forward to a future return for your getaway weekend.
Warm regards,
jeff Fuller

Good location, friendly staff. Big big suites !! Quiet - not on weekends. Onyl the breakfast is always the same.Except the lady who cooks the omelett. She's very very friendly and the omelett is perfect. But the rest of the breakfast is only average.
