My favorite cookies there are oatmeal raisin. They're the best ever. I also like the lunch special, which includes a sandwich, chips, cookie and a drink- the chicken salad is really good.

We went in for some good crusty french bread and walked out with raspberry brownies, a quiche, rolls, and wine. This place was great. There is a really cute courtyard too for sitting and enjoying your pastry and coffee.

First, the bakery has moved and we had a little trouble finding it. Kudzu is now on King St., one block off the main street on the right. It is now in a brick, one-story, warehouse looking building. Also, it is now a bakery and market/deli. They have added a place to eat inside - a small counter with a few stools and a large, lovely, shaded, courtyard across the street from the building. We ate in the courtyard and enjoyed it since it was a beautiful day. In addition to baked goods, they offer a very nice wine selection, cheeses, sausages, breads, jams, jellies, etc. They also had prepared sandwiches (egg salad, chicken salad, pimento cheese, and a lot more) along with a drink, a bag of chips, and a cookie for $7.00. A lot of locals were stopping in for the special. One lady wanted a sandwich they were out of (sandwiches were in the refrigerator), and the girl behind the counter told her to "hang on, and I'll make it," which she did. The sandwiches had a lot of filling in them and I mean a lot. I had the chicken walnut salad sandwich and my husband the pimento cheese, both were excellent. We didn't get the special because we wanted a slice of pound cake and a slice of key lime pie instead of the other items. Both of those were good too. We did buy a pound of oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies to take with us for our daughter to share with her dorm mates. While they were not cheap at $8.00 a pound, they were all large cookies and absolutely delicious.
