I dive around SC coast and I could directly relate to a number of the exhibits. No charge to visit. This is a must visit place in Georgetown. Fascinating view in to Georgetown shipping history.

The Harbor Historical Association of Georgetown has committed to create the South Carolina Maritime Museum on the waterfront in downtown historic Georgetown. There are many displays covering a multitude of information on sailing vessels and ships that were significant to the local area. They have the old light from the Georgetown Lighthouse. It's must see if spending anytime in downtown Georgetown.

The museum is free but well worth the price of admission. The films, artifacts, display and staff are top notch.

My husband and I spent the afternoon in Georgetown. Our destination was the Maritime Museum. What a pleasant surprise each time we have gone it is growing in leaps and bounds. Staff is so friendly and informative. The museum it’s self guiding interesting with knowledge of the history of Georgetown waterways. It’s a must see and great way to spend an hour or more. Admission is free they greatly appreciate a small donation to continue its growth.

FREE Museum that allows you to spend 10 mins seeing some SC native relics or 2 hours sinking into the history of shipping in SC.
