“You'll need a doggie bag”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Fort Mill. I eat lunch here often and always get take out when my in-laws are in town. My kids love it, too. The portions are VERY generous and there has never been an occasion where I was able to eat everything in one sitting. I have read other reviews that complain about too much frying, but I disagree with them. There are plenty of fried food platters. It is a fish camp afterall. But my favorite dish there is actually their London Broil followed closely by their grilled pork chops. I also do eat the fried shrimp and fish on occasion and have never had the first problem wth them. The salads are always fresh. They bring out complimentary homemade hush puppies for you to snack on as your food is being prepared. They do get very crowded, especially on Fridays, but they still manage to have prompt and courteous service and they have their operation down to a science.

Bottom line: it is well run, the food is tasty and of good quality and the portions are very generous

“ALWAYS busy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

Most everything is fried and portions are always too big for most anyone. Friday night the parking lot is full by 4:30. Lots of seniors taking home leftovers. Good service but too much frying.

“disgusting”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

If your looking for nasty greasy fried food that tastes as if the fry oil is never changed, a dirty table and poor food and beverage selection, you've found your new favorite restaurant

“Disappointed with food.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

We arrived at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, and ate fried flounder. Service was good; however, we were disappointed with food. The hushpuppies (as mentioned in previous reviews) tasted like frozen ones from restaurant supplier. The baked potato, which should have been fresh at that time, was discolored as if baked long, long ago. My flounder filets (2) had bones in them, which made me nervous with each bite. The very small serving of slaw was good though. Maybe our expectations were just too high!

“Good Food, Busy and Noisy, but Family Friendly”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

We enjoy Captain Steve’s for good seafood (although there are plenty of things besides seafood on the menu), generous portions (we always bring some of our dinner home with us) and fairly reasonable prices. We’ve tried the broiled and the fried platters. Both are tasty.

It’s a large and busy restaurant, particularly on weekends. This past Saturday evening, our group of eight waited about 35 minutes for a table. One thing to keep in mind, your entire party must be present for them to seat you. Although we eat there occasionally when we are visiting the Charlotte area, Captain Steve’s, is crowded and noisy.

The service is friendly, efficient and fast, but you won’t get super-attentive service. This is definitely not the place for a quiet, leisurely dinner. However, it’s family friendly, and the children and the adults in our family enjoy eating there.
