Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Nestled amid beautiful lakes and hardwood forests, the Anne Springs Close Greenway is a natural preserve more than twice the size of Central Park, minutes south of Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC. Its 2,100 acres serve as a natural buffer from urban development and provide a wide open space for countless activities – from hiking, biking and horseback riding to picnics, kayaking and more. The land has ties to the Catawba Indians and the Civil War and has been permanently preserved for public use. The Greenway contains native plants and animals, historic buildings, a 40 mile network of trails, a recreation center and facilities for weddings and other special events. As a non-profit organization, it depends on memberships, program fees as well as private donations to support annual operations. Main entrances include Lake Haigler, Dairy Barn, Adventure Road and the Recreation Complex, all of which provide additional information and trail maps.

Just over the border in South Carolina down I-77. Lakes for fishing, trails for walking/running, open fields for kite flying, football, etc.

I've been to better parks and hikes that were free. Things are not well marked. I rated this average only because any place to hike is good.

Favorite place to hike near home, many trails to explore. Wildlife and historic buildings and markers. What's not to like!

Lots of time and money has been spent to create and preserve the beauties of nature on the ASC Greenway. Stroll, relax, bike, and enjoy!
