“Oceanside anytime!”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

So it is too hot at the beach today? Go over to the Blu Restaurant & Bar and get a drink where it is always cool and refreshing. The heat index was 108 when we were at Folly Beach, but this escape was the perfect foil for the inferno. (Or you are in your swim suit before 5:30 and you want a drink by the beach. The outside bar has just the place to relax and watch the action.) Need some lunch? Try the grilled chicken sandwich. It has a nice mix of garnishes that up the taste quotient. If you can spare the calories, the homemade potato chips and dip are very nice. For something lighter, the Seafood Cobb Salad was refreshing and with a bit of extra dressing, it was just the ticket to leave room for dinner. For breakfast, we have tried both the buffet and the parfait. Each one was very generous and it was so nice to sit by the sea in air conditioned comfort or out on the patio when the temperature was actually tolerable. From our vantage point, the setting, service, and quality of food was very good to excellent with no real complaints. My only suggestion would be to grill the shrimp in the Seafood Cobb salad and freshen the crab with a squeeze of lemon and a dash of freshly ground pepper just before it is served. Otherwise, the Blu is a great choice and is there for you - oceanside anytime!

“excellent view, loved the furniture, consistently good food”
Reviewed August 11, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful view and ocean breeze! The food was very nice, especially the risotto, grits, mussels, and seafood pasta. Its not a big deal, but the fries were very salty. The server was nice and personable, but we did not have silverware and napkins on the table when food arrived. We also had to ask for water during dinner. I would hope for better after spending $300 on dinner for 5. it was still a great place for family dinner on vaca.

“Always stay at Tides, so we eat here a lot....”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

Breakfast buffet food is really good and there are plenty of choices (and toppings). If you're lucky, you'll be there on one of the days they have the omelet maker there - YUM! I've not had dinner there, but the lunch and snacks are good as well. Beach Bar outside is ALWAYS top notch!

“Overpriced for the food quality, and a LONG wait.”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

Made a mistake and went to the in house restaurant Blu, and waited for over an hour for our food to arrive. The food wasn't very good and was fairly expensive. When you add in the $15 "Continental" breakfast buffet, complete with cold gravy for the biscuits. I give the dining experience a D-. And the only reason it didn't get an F, is because the bacon was thick cut and delicious at breakfast. I could understand a long wait if the restaurant was packed or if it was super late at night... but it was 8:00 on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was nearly empty.

“expensive but worth it”
Reviewed July 18, 2014

This food and decor are very expensive but definately worth it. I would do it all over again and the kids loved the mac and cheese plates (huge portions). The crab cakes were to die for.
