“Amazing, must see bed and breakfast”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

My family which includes 4 teenagers, ages 17-14 arrived at the bed and breakfast to a beautifully lite and exquisitley decorated home. We were welcome by Michael the innkeeper with warm hand shakes and a smile. We were shown to our 4 rooms, each more beautifully decorated than the last. Antique furniture and accessories abound, the beds were amazingly finished with many pillows, throw pillows and bed linens fit for a princess! Complimentary water, soda ,wine and beer were available to us. We were offered the choice of breakfast times; the following morning at 9:30 we entered the diningroom to find a magificently set table where fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, water along with an amazing yogurt fresh peach and blueberry parfait topped with granola awaited our tastebuds. The main course served on fine china consisted of two pieces of light fluffy quiche, one spinach and cheese the other bacon, accompanied by fresh ripe slices of cantelope and musk melon, along with sliced strawberries lovingly made and arranged by Michael. Plenty of great conversation flowed freely amongst the guests and inn keeper. This is a definite must see; we will undoubtedly find our way back to Dillon South Carolina to visit Michael and experience this extrodinary inn again.

Michael is a quintessential host. He greeted us at the door and gave us a tour of this beautiful Greek Revival Antebellum home. Michael has thought of everything to make guests feel relaxed and welcome. Every room is appointed with beautiful antiques, fine linens adorn the beds & everything is meticulously clean. Our gourmet breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the company of guests from California & Connecticut, both of whom have stayed with Micheal many times. The experience was truly an example of style and tradition of times gone by where we found comfort beauty and timeless elegance. Thank you Michael. We'll be back.

On our way to Florida at the end of December 2012, my husband and I had considered staying at one if the hotels just off I-95. Dillon was a good point along the way at which to stop. Fortunately, I read reviews and I could not find one good review for any of the hotels, so I decided to look just a bit further. What a great choice! I found the Columns B&B and would recommend it as a place for anyone to stay, even if you had to go out of your way a bit to get there. I simply cannot say enough good things about Michael and Mark. By the time we left (and we only stayed one night), I felt as though I had known them for years. That is how comfortable they made us feel. The room was very nice and the breakfast was unbelievable! We enjoyed wine on the balcony and were able to completely relax -- something that is not always easy to do after driving on I-95! Thank you, Michael and Mark. Hope to see you again next year on our way back to Florida.

Room Tip: Cal ahead and have Michael help you out. He certainly will if you give him your preferences.

You can drive from Baltimore to Hilton Head without stopping, but why would you when The Columns stands ready for rest and renewal? When we arrived we were greeted by Innkeeper Michael Real with a glass of wine and warm tour of this amazingly beautiful Southern Inn. Our evening was quiet and restful with the distant sound of a train rolling through Dillon. Every thoughtful treatment was found in fine linens, antiques and spotlessly clean chambers. We were asked about our breakfast preferences, even what we liked in our coffee. After a comfortable nights sleep we were treated to a gourmet breakfast that should have been photographed. Fresh fruit, eggs Benedict and fresh squeezed juice made for a welcome way to begin the last leg of our trip. Michael even packed my wife a fruit salad for the road. Without a doubt, this is the finest B&B experience we have had in 30 years. When forced to travel on I95 in South Carolina treat yourself to a five minute detour to Dillon and allow Michael to spoil you with style and comfort. Michael, we'll be back. Maybe even on the way home.

Room Tip: Any room is perfect.

The Columns Bed and Breakfast Inn has become our "B&B of Choice" on our trips to and from Florida. We made this our "Home away from Home" after careful research to find an excellent accommodation different from the run of the mill accommodations off I-95. It is well worth the short diversion off I-95 to receive highly personalized and professional service in a small town atmosphere. If your looking for some "rest and relaxation" in a cozy atmosphere, this is the place to stay. Michael looks after your every need and want.....coffee outside your room, a delicious full breakfast and delightful conversation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I travel on business a couple times a year to Florence, SC and have had several bad experiences staying at the major chain hotels in that city so I was looking for an alternative and came across The Columns in Dillon, SC which is about 30 miles from Florence. I was traveling with two other co-workers and we all were so incredibly impressed with the hospitality, accommodations and meals that we can't wait to come back to stay with Michael again! We were all treated like royalty and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The three rooms we had were all unique and beautifully decorated with fine furniture and antiques. The fabrics and linens in the room were very high quality and every inch of the room was meticulously clean!

When we returned to The Columns each night after work, Michael greeted us and offered us a glass of complimentary wine. He would ask each night what time we wanted coffee delivered to the second floor in the morning and what time we wanted breakfast. When we walked into the formal dining room each morning the table was perfectly set and a dish of fresh yogurt, fruit and granola was ready for us to eat. That was followed by an entree which varied each morning and was customized for any special eating need. Micheal served omelets the first morning; French toast with fruit topping on day two and the most amazing eggs Benedict on day three. The breakfast was simply elegant each morning.

Michael was an incredible host- he was interesting, entertaining, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. I HIGHLY recommend The Columns to any traveler. I have stayed in some very elite hotels, but the accommodations and service at The Columns was some of the finest I have ever experienced.

Room Tip: We had three of the rooms on the second floor and each of them were elegantly decorated and well app...
