When you are the sister of a restaurant owner whom has appeared on food shows and been written up in well established newspapers and magazines, you have no choice but to be high maintenance when it comes to going out to eat, and this food snob LOVES the Bistro!
After renovations due to a kitchen fire, The Rivertown Bistro feels like it should belong in SoHo instead of historic Conway, SC. From the exposed kitchen to the U shaped, open upstairs allowing the diner to watch the goings on below, dinner is as much of a show as it is a delicious culinary experience. Starting off with the Clementine Cosmo or the Porch Sipper is a must! But be careful, those tasty treats go down so easily, they can get you in trouble!
The head chef is more like a food magician. Using local produce, meats and fish, the pairings he creates are beyond words. Whether you are a local or on your way to the beach from "the big city", The Bistro will be at the top of your list of places to eat: it is as on my sister's when she is in town-Now THAT is a recommendation!

One of the best restaurants in Horry county and love that it's in downtown Conway. Dinner was delicious!! Wait staff rocks.

It's hard to know what to say--this is a gorgeous slick modern bistro with lovely attentive service and a menu of inventive dishes. Our starter of fried okra, thinly sliced fried squash, chopped banana peppers, Parmesan, and a peppercorn dip was pretty and delicious. My friend's fried oyster salad featured perfectly prepared oysters--lightly breaded and flash fried without being over cooked. The yam chips were indeed worth all the rave reviews here on TA. However, my entree of crab cake was less successful. The crab cake had little flavor and was almost burned on one side. The blackened fried green tomatoes were not breaded; they were thinly sliced and more sautéed than fried, so they were greasy, plus they had so much blackening seasoning that all we could taste was the spice, not the tomato. My impression is that the bistro tries to offer too large a menu and therefore they do not have the time to make each dish uniformly excellent. But I do not wish to be too critical--this is a wonderful restaurant to have stumbled across in a small town.

Oh my oh my! The yam chips were delicious, a must try. And the spring rolls. Oh my!! Divine with the sauce and all!! Don't leave without getting a slice of the homemade key lime pie! Freshest and creamiest key lime pie I have ever had! Yummy! Must stop by when in town!!

We were a large party and were served quickly. Everyone really enjoyed their dinners, the decor was perfect, the restaurant was quiet enough for conversation, the service was quick and extremely attentive and accommodating, and we were all very happy with the suggestion of eating at the Bistro. The quality of everything was outstanding!
