“Don't miss this!”

We used a Restraunt.com gift certificate as well. The food was amazing! I got the scallops which came with cole slaw and I chose the sweet potato fries. My husband had the seafood platter. Melt. In. Your. Mouth! Wow! We loved it. It was a "hole in the wall" kind of place, but the owner/waiter/cook was very nice to us and since we were the only ones there, our food actually came very quick. I liked that it was made as your ordered, you could tell everything was fresh! Will go back for sure!

“Diamond in the rough!”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

After experiencing Luvan's for the first time recently, my husband and I agree with several of the reviews previously posted. Like many other reviewers, we were using Restaurant.com. And, like many other reviewers, we thought the outside of the place looked like something out of a movie ... think Jeremiah Johnson meets Duck Dynasty. It's rustic ... really rustic. And the interior is rustic ... really rustic. But, the waitress could not have been nicer, and before you know it she brings a basket of hot hushpuppies to your table, and then ... shut the door, and prepare to stay for awhile! They are absolutely the best hushpuppies you will ever eat! My husband really likes good seafood, so he ordered the combination platter, (shrimp, scallops, oysters, crab, and fish). It was not only excellent in quality, but so large in quantity that he could not eat it all. I had the hamburger steak which was also delicious ... and also so large, there was no way I could possibly finish it! Both came with a choice of potato and either a salad or coleslaw. And the prices are reasonable. After tax and a generous gratuity, our bill was $40.00, but since we had a $25.00 Restaurant.com coupon, the total was just $15.00! Really, if you are anywhere near this place, give it a try ... we plan to return very soon!

“Excellent Seafood!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

Went there on a Monday evening, and although we were the only patrons there at that time, this place is a gem! The tea was fresh, the hush puppies have onions and are delicious. The shrimp cocktail was fresh, and seafood platter and shrimp platter were fresh, delicious and plentiful. From the outside, the place can be a bit deceiving, but the food is affordable, plentiful, and delicious! Give it a try!

“SUCCULENT SEAFOOD and more . . . freshest in a 70 mile radius!!”
Reviewed September 20, 2013

Now, you have to understand that we live between Oak Island & Southport, NC; right near the ocean and have eaten at MANY establishments claiming to serve FRESH seafood but the 70 mile drive to LUVAN'S was a very smart decision. The small log cabin with the red metal roof/door sat off Hgwy 701 in the woods and looked like a antiquated landmark but what lies inside is amazing! Richard/owner greeted us at the door, served a basket of huge, HOT hush puppies with real onion pieces and even a COKE in the can for $1 (It's BYOB, beer or wine). He took our order, cooked our food, served it all, bussed the table; took our $$, start to finish. He is slow and steady, I guess it helps his endurance through the night while working at all 5 positions. The interior reflects FISH CAMP style and gives a false impression of the awesome food that lies ahead; we started with an appetizer of Calamari (available in 4 preps) and fresh, battered humongous mushrooms. We enjoyed a broiled & a fried seafood combo (lightly battered and tasty), full of 6 sweet scallops, 6 shrimp, 6 oysters, a crab cake, 2 large pieces of flounder and yummy coleslaw (didn't have any room left for the baked potato)! LOL. PRICES are very reasonable for quality & quantity of food and chalkboard specials posted as well. So HAPPY we experienced this gem in the woods!! The menu and directions are online and hope you have a GREAT experience, 2!
