Sheraton Columbia Downtown Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel for 5 weeks while I was relocating to the area and it was fantastic. My room was always so clean, the layout of each room was comfortable and spacious. The hardwood floors, flat screens and decor felt upscale and luxurious. The staff was amazing! They took great care of me and my little dog. They became my family as I was getting to know the area and new friends. Thanks to The Sheraton, my transition to Columbia was seamless!

The Sheraton Downtown wasn't our first choice, but man am I glad we went with them. They gave our conference guests a great price and their staff went out of their way to work with us and make everyone feel comfortable. We'll be using them again and i'll be happy to stay there should the opportunity arise again.

This hotel was great. The rooms have real hardwood floors. Ths staff was helpful and prompt. They have three different bars.. Well one is a restaurant. The roof top bar is an outside bar on the top of the hotel. Great for relaxing after that business meeting or conference. Rooms were cozy. The rooms had flat screen tv in every room including the bathroom. The only thing I have to note is that the rooms do not come with a refridgerator. But the good thing the have plenty on site upon request. This hotel appears to mostly business friendly.

The staff was very friendly. Everyone we came across was helpful and kind, from the front desk to maintenance and everyone in between that we came in contact with while at the hotel. The roof-top bar is a great place to hang out for a cocktail before calling it a night. The evening we were at the bar, it was very busy! Making the bar bigger would be great for the hotel and the patrons...
The room we had was well appointed and comfortable. I loved the decor of the whole place! Very modern and welcoming.
Thanks for a great stay, we will see you all again.

We spent a weekend here, checking in after 4 p.m. on a Friday. Within minutes of our getting to our room, a maintenance worker came and started drilling and gluing broken shower doors in the bathroom. We asked for another room and got switched. Saturday morning after breakfast, we returned to the room to find water pouring out of the closet ceiling, directly onto my clothes. The front desk sent another maintenance worker and we switched rooms again. The hotel did launder my clothes after I insisted, and the desk clerk was very nice about helping. However, on Saturday night in the third (new) room, the tub faucet did not work properly, so, despite the jacuzzi, one could only get water from the shower head. We expected to have some reduction in our bill for moving to three rooms and having all my clothes soaked, but no discount was given until I asked as we left. Later, we got a call that the hotel would refund only $15 from our two night stay. We were not impressed.

Not a bad location on main street Colombia (though the area is returning to being empty, lots of places closing up).

Got a good rate, but you have to pay for everything else, for example bottled water is 2.50, bag of nuts 4.00. Normal for a Sheraton I guess, but not sustainable given the amount of hotels nearby. Restaurant (main street, one of two) ok food but overpriced again. Do people really still charge for Wifi nowadays - this place does, 9.95$/day.

Service was a little 'sterile' on check-in, trying to be too business like.
The building is lovely, but I felt the inside was an uncomfortable mish-mash of old and new, a clean but boring renovation. No bath - shower only. Everything was clean.

Corridors are far too noisy - the doors block out no noise so you hear everything going on around you.

The upstairs bar with panoramic 'stunning' views was basically a balcony with views of offices, but hey, you can't bash them for trying. Pretty much older hotel guests only there when I stayed.

Valet parking is $18/night - there is a municipal park in an alley just to the East which was supposed to be a max of $10/night though I only ended up paying $3, was free at weekends too. If you are capable of walking 100 yards, I'd use that and save the cash.

In sum - sound business hotel though not competitive - friends stayed at the Marriott next door and that was better all round (room size/facilities/price). They need to realise that it's the extras/service that makes a good hotel, not the building or brand.

Charming property, however, lacking in the little things.
TV was ripped out of the bathroom, leaving a remote control and a mess on the wall.
Room very dusty and bathroom pretty dirty. I do not mind the occasional pube in the tub, but do not at all expect that in a "posh" hotel.
Good rate, generally friendly and helpful staff.
Awful food (both at breakfast which is majorly lackluster and for room service).
All in all a solid 3 star.
