I found Tombo on Trip Advisor and quite coincidentally had it recommended after I made the reservation. It is small but the food was exceptional. Four of each had a different meal and they were all excellent. The service was also excellent, our server was attentive and very friendly. Bread was fresh and the chef made some minor alterations to three of the four meals. This place is a must if you go to Columbia!
In town to visit our son at USC for parent weekend. Wanted something away from the crowds in downtown. Found this from trip advisor and was a great recommendation. The food was fresh and tasty. Our waiter have recommendations which were spot on. Fried Mac n cheese was delicious. Fresh seasonal salads were great. Shrimp n grits sauce was similar sauce on the Mac n cheese. Yummy. Deserts were home made - key lime creme brûlée was wonderful. Definitely want to try again when in town.
We have been regulars at Tombo since it opened, but the experience only gets better and better. On our most recent visit, we dined with a few friends during the Burger, Beer, and Blues event on a Monday evening. We enjoyed fantastic live music that was lively, but not so loud that it hindered our table conversations. And the burgers...good grief, they were fantastic! I would rate my burger in the top 3 burgers I have ever had out. Luckily, there is more to Tombo than just awesome burgers. Their specials (using fresh, local ingredients as much as possible) are always outstanding, and the menu offers something for everyone. When you combine all of this with the friendly, attentive service, Tombo offers the full package. Whether we are seeking a romantic meal, a fun dinner out with friends, or a comfortable spot to enjoy a drink and conversation, Tombo is it!
If you want an upgrade from french-fried sports bar fare to a grown-up atmosphere that'll make you absolutely crave Brussels sprouts — make your next night out dinner and drinks at Tombo Grille in Forest Acres.
Share small bites and salads with the girls or a big fat steak and tempting dessert on date night. This is a great little gem of a restaurant with a top-notch staff minus the headaches of the Vista or Five Points. You can always count on fun specials throughout the week, creative seasonal tastings and the annual Tomboo Halloween party — not to be missed.
Tombo Grille is loved by the locals. Come on in and see why!
