Description: DiPrato's Delicatessen opened May 2004, and, today, the DiPrato's Experience affords patrons a rewarding escape from ordinary fare. The reward? Delectable food, beautiful décor, and a beguiling balance: friendly service and a pleasant, neighborly feeling. DiPrato's, located where the Purple Cow grocer operated, graces a quiet neighborhood barely off the beaten path. Driving up, you notice the rich red brick, set off by greenery, and spacious windows where light pours in. Approaching the wooden, double-door entrance, a thought comes to mind. You're about to enjoy the DiPrato's Experience. You could say a Southern breeze laden with Italian accents drifts through this New York style delicatessen. Dine if you like on the patio where the glassy splash of falling water melts away concerns. Pita chips and pimento cheese are a real treat! Blend Dianne Light and Bill Prato's presence and culinary skills and you get a wonderfully popular delicatessen-DiPrato's.

“Sunday brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

Visited with my two sons, one a student at USC - was told it might be a 20 minute wait but it was only about 10 - our meals were very good - I had a Monte Cristo sandwich and the boys had french toast and a HUGE omelet - they ate every bite. Great friendly service -- will definitely return!

“Great lunch place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

High quality food, but only open for lunch. Sunday brunch is very good. Be prepared to wait, though usually it's not that long.

“Columbia Treasure: Great Deli/Restaurant with Southern Roots”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

Di Prato's is a unique experience that I've enjoyed again and again. This isn't a fancy establishment, but that doesn't mean it isn't special. The fuss is the food, and with a deli case absolutely stuffed with Southern delicacies like tomato pie, fried green tomatoes, several varieties of pimento cheeses, you might just find yourself taking some extra home for Supper. They are organized and even if the line reaches the door, I've found that it moves very quickly, as people have had a chance to make up their mind during their wait. In between sampling the pimento cheese offerings on the counter. Once you've ordered they will bring it to you at your table. It is primarily a luncheon focus, as they close early at 6PM. They feature a special menu for Saturday and Sunday Brunch. The enclosed patio offers a scenic view. Give them a try and I think you will agree that you made the right choice. If your curious check out their menu at http://www.dipratos.com/

“What's The Fuss”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

I really don't know what all the fuss is about in this place, except for their famous pimento cheese which really is quite tasty. The rest of the food, the atmosphere, and the service is really very poor, paper-plate stuff. I was truly surprised how bad this was. Soggy pasta, stale bread, you name it.

“Crowded, but worth the wait”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

Make sure you have a reservation or go early.....otherwise you will stand in line. This place is always packed. My girlfriend and I ate lunch there and she had a problem with her dessert. They were very quick to take care of the problem and even sent a manager over to our table. I was very impressed.
