“Mediocre at best”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

I ate at Eric's on a Tuesday night and the parking lot was pretty full which is normally a good sign. I was seated quickly but the booth was filthy and the floor had water all over it, which I almost slipped on twice.

I ordered a vegetarian plate and asked for nacho cheese sauce in place of the guacamole and was told that couldn't be done. The meat combination plates had this option for $1 but it wasn't even possible on the vegetarian combo? The food came out fast and had obviously been microwaved. The cheese enchilada was cold halfway through and the sauce on the bean burrito tasted like spaghetti sauce. The only really good thing about the restaurant was it was cheap. My total bill was less than $10.

Spacious, well designed place with outdoor tables and indoor wooden bar. They consistently have friendly, fast staff and good, Mexican food. Reasonably priced, especially compared the other, smaller Mexican restaurants in the area.

“Run of the Mill Tex-Mex”

At first glance Eric's looks to be a great restaurant. It is usually packed, is in a good location and often times has live entertainment. But the food is mediocre, made with cheap ingredients and comes in small portions. One reason that Eric does such a great business is he caters to the students (e.g., discount coupons are readily available) on top of the already cheap prices, and the drinks are good. But this is definitely one case where the adage "You Get What You Pay For" applies. If you want good Mexican Food and are in the vicinity of the VA in Columbia, I suggest you give Casa Linda's further South down Garners Ferry Road next to Walmart a try. The use top quality, fresh ingredients and are a family friendly establishment.

“Decent Mexican food”

Decent Mexican food at a great price. Great salsa for the chips. It's a good place to go for a quick lunch.

“First and last!”

I ordered the chilli rellanos and I received a plate with ground meat and melted cheese. I asked the waiter where was the chilli and he said "we only give a little piece of pepper". Buried in the center of the plate was a 1" piece of green bell pepper. The chairs and table were filthy. Never again!
