Description: Located in the historic Congaree Vista with a heated patio and free valet parking, Motor Supply has been serving progressive, New World cuisine using classic French culinary techniques for over 20 years. Led by Executive Chef Wesley Fulmer, the kitchen's lunch, dinner and brunch handwritten menus change daily, featuring contemporary New American cuisine, with nods to Creole, Cajun, New Southern, French, Italian and Asian cuisine. We are Columbia's foremost "farm to fork" restaurant, working with local, sustainable farms for produce, meats, SC seafood and more. Seafood is caught off of the Carolina coast, and all of our stocks, sauces and desserts are made on site, including our charcuterie, with house-made sausages, bacon, country pate, and rillettes, all the way down to the pickles and mustard. Our early 19th century, solid-oak bar with marble columns, imported from Europe, serves 180+ fine wines (Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence, 2006-12), an extensive list of imported, domestic and local craft beers, as well as an artisan farm-to-shaker cocktail list made from house-infused liquors, handmade bitters, barrel-aged spirits and locally-sourced ingredients and garnishes.

On our way from KY to GA, we stopped for the night in Columbia and hoped to find a good spot to celebrate our anniversary. The Motor Supply Co was amazing! We decided to share salads and appetizers, including the antipasti, the sorghum grain salad, quail and cheese plate. Everything was delicious, including the specialty cocktails. Prices were reasonable for such unique, well prepared selections. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone living near or visiting Columbia. It was a random stop for us, but now I am trying to think of an excuse to come back!

Went once because we heard it was good, and went again because it was great. Flying into Columbia to drive somewhere else, but we made a reservation immediately after the first dinner for our return a week later. Absolutely fresh greens with prosciutto and goat milk feta, dressed with honey-cantaloupe vinaigrette, made an amazing salad. Charcuterie was excellent; cheese plate well rounded and served perfect temperature. Mountain trout was seasoned expertly, crisped just enough but not overcooked. Babette steak had a wonderfully deep meat taste and house smoked prime rib played nicely with rosemary jus. Entrees were reasonably priced, ranging from $18 to $28. Locally sourced menu changes often. Doesn't matter what they have that day. Just go!

My husband and I were traveling through the area and picked this restaurant because it had good TripAdvisor reviews..we should have kept looking. Service was EXCELLENT and I loved our waiter. Ordered the mussels for an appetizer and they were hit or miss as to whether or not they tasted good. My dinner entree was crispy duck over grits with a rosemary gravy. The grits were bland the duck was flavorless and the gravy has no notes of rosemary. I sent it back and opted not to eat my dinner, it was so tasteless. My husband got the smoked rib eye which had a good flavor but for the prices and the quality of food, go around the corner to Ruth's Chris and get some good tasting food!

We took friends from Charleston to Motor and we all thought it was fantastic! Food was fresh and prepared perfectly. They had a cocktail special of vodka infused with local strawberries, basil and house made lemonade. Best cocktail I have had in a long time! Inspired! Steaks were cooked perfectly and the seafood was fresh and delicious.

Motor Supply has been my favorite restaurant in Columbia for many years. The menu is hand-written and changes daily, so you know the freshest ingredients are being used. They make the extra effort of sourcing locally, and proudly display the names of the farms from which their ingredients originate. Their dishes are creative. The pork chops and duck, which generally appear every day in different variations, are excellent. Lunch portion sizes are just right. Since all food is prepared to order, they are able to accommodate dietary issues, should this be a concern. And they do it with a smile.
