Great place for running, walking, blading, and biking. Tends to get crowded on nice days with strollers--both the baby kind and the people kind. The West Columbia side is more interesting than the Columbia side, in terms of extended exercise, that is. Also in terms of scenery. Stand under the railroad bridge as a train goes over for a little thrill.

Overall train still needs a way to get around the power plant, though. Solve that problem and the end-to-end run/walk/ride will be a substantial one.

Remnants of first powerplant. Appears Columbia had had hydroelectric power in 1895. Cross the foot bridge over the canal and see the old dam on the river.

Walking along the canal and river is a great way to see nature and get exercise! There is now a walkway to the Gervais St. bridge that is quite scenic.

The trail system is excellent - in fact just walked the West Columbia side today. Places to sit or picnic along the way in a natural setting that offers shade in the summer and a view.
