“Don't miss, breathtaking inside”

You can simply walk in and take a quick look or they also have tours every half hour if you like. The craftsmanship of the interior is impeccable and such a treasure to see. You just don't find this quality anymore.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

Interesting, historic, photogenic, neat old building, educational (in a way, so I do not mean heavy teaching at all), free to access. Security is apt and they were very pleasant too.

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable hour and a half. Could easily see others doing similarly and even with children - say 10 - 16 year olds.

“Very nice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

We are from Raleigh and just visited the State Capital building there but I must admit the South Carolina State House was nicer in terms of the overall feel of it and the interior quality.

Liked being able to see the Mace and Swords.

The landscaping on the grounds was great.

The one-piece-of-granite columns were very impressive.

“South Carolina State House”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

We went to visit the state house on a Sunday morning. A beautiful building on the outside and the grounds have lots of statues, monuments, memorials, and beautiful trees and plants. The State House itself wasn't open at the time we visited, don't know if its not open on the weekend or just on Sunday morning because the hours that it is open was not posted anywhere that I seen. Not to be able to go into the State House was a disappointment so plan your visit if you want to see the inside of the State House.

“Free insight into local government”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

There is so much to see here! The grounds are beautiful, the statues and flags are great, and there is so much to take in! In the building, the beautiful artwork and masonry are sights to see. I would devote hours if you want to full experience, but a quick trip would be sufficient.
