Owner description: Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to nearly 2,000 animals that represent more than 350 species from around the world. A visit to the Zoo will play host to an array of wild adventures from a diving expedition on a Pacific coral reef to a safari through the plains of Africa to an interactive Outback encounter with a flock of sociable lorikeets. The Botanical Garden boasts 70-acres of unparalleled beauty and is considered one of the America's best public gardens. Dramatic and themed gardens showcase more than 4,300 species of native and exotic plants, providing a living classroom for gardeners and non-gardeners alike. The Garden also is the gateway to natural river views and spectacular valley overlooks. In addition, guests can view structural remains dating back to the early 1800s with South Carolina's textile industry and the Civil War.

We took the grands to the zoo. It was clean, affordable, and was a very enjoyable afternoon. Parking is free. A lovely garden is associated with the zoo. The animals are well cared for and the displays allow the visitors to experience the animals in their natural habitat.

Feeding time is the best time for animals and children. Our family meets at the zoo a few times each year. All ages enjoy it.

we go to the zoo at least once a month...riverbanks has membership programs for families at different prices based on how much you and your family want to do at the zoo...if you go more than once a year opt for the membership it is extremely affordable and has added benefits, guest passes, rides. 10% off discounts at gift shops, special membership events, etc. Now for the zoo it has a lot to see lovely botanical gardens, a kids play area, kids activities mine love to feed the lorakeets, and lots of animals. tip go in the early morning for the best time that is when you can watch them feed the animals and in summer the animals are more active during this time and it is less hot. some exhibits you can really get close to the animals, and you can feed the giraffes and the animals at the petting zoo. yes, lions, tigers and bears, elephants, birds, penquins, huge anacondas, and indoor reptile exhibit, gorillas, monkeys, kangaroos, cuddly koalas and much more. It is the best deal for family fun in columbia.

Take your kids, go for the day....what a beautiful zoo. There are botanical gardens to enjoy, many animals, and the giraffe platform was a blast for kids! You can get up close and personal with the giraffes. This was an amazing site to see. The animals were so gentle and nice and beautiful to see them so close. There were many to see and it was really fun. The zoo also has many climbing trees and gyms for the kids to enjoy, a really nice restaurant and many fine vendors selling food and drinks. It's a leisurely pace and beautifully landscaped. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it for families of all ages.
