Todaro Pizza has two locations, one in Hazlet, NJ at the Jersey Shore and another in Clemson, SC. Apparently the owner's son attended Clemson and like most relocated Yankees, immediately went into pizza withdrawal. He begged his dad to open a quality pizza shop in Clemson. I'm glad he did.
Todaro is the real thing. Thin crust, great sauce lots of cheese. It looks like a dump (as it should--a fancy looking pizza place in Jersey is assuredly one that doesn't take its pizza seriously) but provides authentic and high quality fare. I've had pizza and calzones there, both have been excellent.
One note if you go: in order to satisfy the majority of their customers--Southerners who eat pizza with a knife and fork (I'll never understand)--they tend to under cook their pizza so it is soft and soggy in the center. No worries fi you are a Yankee or simply want your pizza prepared properly; just ask for it well done and crispy, they will gladly accommodate.
