My wife and I were in Charleston for 4 nights at the end of October. On our prior trips to Charleston, we had stayed in the downtown historic district where parking is a real premium. Consequently we never used the car once we checked in on our prior visits to Charleston. This time we wanted to check out some of the surrounding areas as well as the historic district. So we opted for the Town & Country Inn after reading other Trip Advisor reviews and are we ever glad we stayed there. The hotel is like new due to a recent tasteful renovation. Our room had a very comfortable king-size bed along with a nice sitting area, microwave, mini-fridge and Keurig coffee maker. The bath was spacious enough for two people. The only small negative as described in other reviews is that the faucet for the large shower is on the back wall making it tricky to turn on the water to warm up without getting yourself wet in the process. By making the reservations directly with the hotel, we received a $15 voucher for each day to use in the on-site Trotters Restaurant. The breakfast buffet was $8.99 per person plus $2.50 for coffee. We opted to drink free coffee in our room each morning and drink the free juices with our breakfast instead. Downtown Charleston is less than 15 minutes away and the location allows easy travel to other popular attractions in the Charleston area. After arriving we asked for a room on the back side of the hotel well away from the busy Savannah Highway fronting the hotel which ensured that we had a very quiet room. A couple of hours after checking out on Friday, we received a call from the hotel to let us know that the maid found my Apple earphones which were left in the room. The hotel mailed them to our home which was greatly appreciated. We will definitely stay here again on future visits to Charleston.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the back side away from busy Savannah Highway. Drink free coffee in your room i...

My husband and I just spent 4 nights in Charleston and we were very happy with our stay at the Town & Country Inn and Suites. We stayed in a standard King size bed room. It was prefect. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the linens were very nice. The bathroom was a good size. The location was great for us. About a 12 minute ride to downtown Charleston. The value was so worth the the 12 minute drive. All of the staff were very nice and friendly. Only 2 small complaints. ..pillows were a little too big for me they may want to consider having a pillow menu. And the shower was very big (nice) but the faucet was on the back wall so you got wet with cold water when you went in to turn it on to heat up. Really no big deal. I would absolutely stay again.

Thanks so much for your Four night stay with us and for giving us a Five Star review on Trip Advisor. This means the world to us since we are a family owned and operated hotel and not a chain. I am glad that you pointed out that you felt the value for what you received in our hotel was "so worth the 12 minute drive" into downtown Charleston. Please come see us again!

This is a very nice hotel, nicer than the standard Comfort Suites or Holiday Inn Express. We chose it because the hotels in Charleston's historic district were out of our price range. This had very comfortable rooms and a large elegant bathroom with a separate tub and shower. The towels were fluffy and the beds were comfy (nice European style bedding.) The rooms were large with a sofa bed. It's 15 minutes from the historical district, but near lots of suburban shopping and restaurants. It's perfect for those entering town from the west side. Breakfast was expensive despite the $15 rebate, and definitely not worth the money- just standard breakfast fare.

Thanks for pointing out that you felt our family owned and operated hotel was a "gem" and that it stood above the chain hotel competition. I am so glad you enjoyed our European style bedding and quick access to downtown Charleston for 1/3rd of the price of a downtown hotel. Thanks for coming and we look forward to serving you again.

We spent two nights in Charleston as part of a 2 city road trip (the other being Savannah). To keep the budget in line, we chose to stay outside of downtown Charleston and the choice worked out perfectly. The drive into the city was 10-15 minutes and painless. All of the reviews are pretty much spot on. The hotel is clean, well-appointed and the breakfast buffet top-notch. By booking directly through the hotel, we received a $15 voucher toward the breakfast for each night upon check-in. The room itself was a very comfortable size - mini fridge, microwave, coffemaker, etc.
If I wanted to be nit-picky, the bathroom, while beautiful, could have been better designed from a functional standpoint. The glass door enclosed walk in shower had no grab bars, and in order to turn on the water, you had to physically step into the shower and get wet.
We would not hesitate to stay there again should we revisit Charleston sometime down the road.

This was our first time staying in Charleston and we were so glad we chose Town & country Inn and Suites. The entire Inn was beautiful, the Staff was warm and welcoming and went above and beyond fulfilling each of our requests. After we had checked out, Our housekeeper found a jacket with a wallet in it and immediately notified the appropriate staff. They immediately notified us and offered to put the jacket in the mail. It was received in a very timely manner. Our room was very clean, the mattress was very comfortable and the furnishings were updated and charming. We would gladly stay at Town and Country Inn and Suites again.

Thanks for describing our family owned and operated hotel as beautiful... our staff as warm, accommodating, and beyond fulfilling. These are the kinds of things we do every day in the hotel but I wanted to thank you for noticing that and pointing it out to the Trip Advisor Community. Thanks again for the Five Star review!

The woman who greeted us at the desk was upbeat and welcoming. She answered our questions readily. This hotel outside of the downtown area is a great find. We had a two Queen bed room. It was spacious enough for us. The bathroom was wonderful as I loved the large tile/glass shower area. The bedding was extremely comfortable. I liked the unusual layout of the building with an enclosed pool area sporting very comfortable furniture. We received a night stay for $99 which included a $15 voucher for either dinner or breakfast. My husband and I shared a ham/cheese omelet, hash browns, toast and coffee...at no cost thanks to the voucher. I plan to come back again to see more of Charleston and will definitely make this my "home base".

Thanks for all the compliments you gave us but especially on how exceptional the service was that you were given by our “upbeat” staff. Thanks also for pointing out how much you enjoyed the $15 Food and Beverage voucher that we provide for guests who book directly through the hotel. I am so pleased to hear that our family owned an operated hotel is your new “home base” and look forward to your future stay with us

The room is a 10 - no doubt. Wonderful bed, great pillows, awesome bath with separate shower and tub, quiet and spacious.

But the service from the front of the hotel leaves much to be desired. Arrived early but there was no effort to get us into the room prior to the 3:00 check in - literally checked in at 2:55. The entire entrance was taken over by some kind of event so there was no parking and the registration for the event was placed directly inside the front door so you had to negotiate through this mass of people to the front desk. Spoke with 3 different people at the front desk and not one of them was remotely friendly.

Room comes with a $15 voucher for food each day but you need to know that you cannot combine any of the days so if your schedule does not fit the hours the restaurant is open the vouchers become useless. Left very early on a Sunday morning and returned around 7:30 pm expecting to get dinner but the restaurant was already closed. If you use the voucher for breakfast, mid-week breakfast is $10 per person PLUS $2.50 for coffee or tea (these are not included in the buffet).

Attempted to return to the room after breakfast on the last day and our room key did not open the door to the hotel section. So we returned to the front desk to have the card reset. I gave them the wrong room number (my fault) but the front desk person did not check the room number so she reset the card to the wrong room number. I actually was provided access to a room that was not mine!

If you are just looking for an awesome room, then definitely stay here but if you expect some level of service and security, you might was to look elsewhere.

I am honored by your flattering review of our hotel guestrooms and sincerely appreciate you pointing that out. I also read the comments you made about the service and it appears that we did not do everything possible to make you happy which is extremely unusual as hundreds of previous guest reviews on Trip Advisor state how exceptional our service is. Please call me at 843-571-1000 and I will do everything in my power to make sure you are happy and taken care of.
