“Neat little find”
Reviewed July 18, 2010

Location is perfect. Price is good ($143.00/nt) for crowded Charleston in July. Almost across from the market on Meeting St, 1 block from CHarleston Place if you want to have a drink and music in the evening. Parking across the street a little dicy but $12.00 a day not bad. Rooms are "quaint", with 4 poster beds, canopy on each, smaller than average but OK. Breakfast offerings more than just continental with eggs, bacon, bagels, cereal etc. Afternoon cocktails ok. Ice Cold lemonade, sweet tea and water served all day in the "lobby". Would suggest they brighten the lobby up with some more lamps or something as the first inpression is not great. Young girl at desk fairly disinterested. Older lady in the am and during the day taking care of the breakfast and cold drinks seems angry all the time. Lovely quiet courtyard, nice for reading a book. Look at the pictures on their website. WOuld go back because of location and price and be sure to get a room on 2nd floor ....

We were in town for a wedding. The location of the hotel is great. Walking distance from almost everything. The main problem with the inn is that the people at the front desk do not know the first thing about customer service. They were outright rude to a few members of my party and very inattentive in general. The woman who attends to the breakfast in the morning had nothing but bad things to say under her breath while we all got coffee. Management needs to fix this lack of friendliness and this inn would be ideal.

Spent a fabulous week in Charleston at the Meeting Street Inn. This was our first time in Charleston and I agonized over where to stay. After doing research and reading reviews and calling a few places, Alan answered the phone at the Meeting Street Inn and I was sold. I didn't want to stay in a big hotel, yet B&Bs are too small and intimate for my taste, and the Meeting Street Inn was the perfect in-between blend. And the price was right.

I was thrilled with my choice the moment I walked in. The property is absolutely gorgeous: from the charming lobby to the beautiful, tropical courtyard to the guestrooms. We stayed in Room 216, which is a deluxe room. It was a huge room furnished in antique-style with a Queen bed, two wingback chairs with a table, a desk and another set of table and chairs, but the best feature was the balcony overlooking the courtyard. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the historic district and centrally located to everything.

Economy parking was only a short block and a half away and we never had problems finding a spot. The staff was extremely helpful anytime we had questions and provided us with directions and suggestions and hooked us up with a private ghost tour. The food selection at the morning breakfasts and evening wine and hors d'oeuvres hour were nothing to get too excited about, but they were free and really helped us shave some dollars off our dining budget. I loved unwinding with a book and a glass of wine in the courtyard after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel was quiet, too. We never had issues with noise. The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is that the cleaning service was spotty. One day our room wasn't cleaned at all and on the days it was cleaned it was not done very thoroughly. But I am not a neat freak and this was a minor issue for me when compared to the location, ambiance and value.

We had such a good time in Charleston that we are going back this September and we are staying at the Meeting Street Inn again! When I called to see if we could get the same room, Darren answered the phone and he actually remembered me. Just another reason why the Meeting Street Inn is tops in my book!

Although the price was a bit more than we wanted to pay, that had more to do with Charleston than the hotel. Front desk was very helpful, very charming look, comfortable beds with quaint rooms, and one of the best locations if you want to walk to everything.
Definitely would stay there again!

I had forgotten what it was like to have a member of the hotel staff actually take you to your room and show you the amenities... but Lanelle was awesome! Charming, perfect location, great little wine hour, would definitely recommend to anyone.

Overall, the experience was fair at best. Our room was dark and had limited ventilation and despite the glorious weather could not experience the fresh air due to location and room configuration. The front staff acted detached from customer service and offered little assistance or traveler interest. Too bad as the location is the winning aspect.

While we enjoyed the benefit of wine reception nightly and continental breakfast, the lobby and seating area was totally inadequate for the volume of guests. While welcoming and comfortable, those who could secure a seat were the fortunate few. Too bad.

The advertisements and websites over embellish this place.

Outstanding service, Darren was especially helpful. Awesome location - within walking distance to market street, shops and restaurants. Nice wine and cheese reception in late afternoon. Nice courtyard and rooms.
