“A gem in center of Charleston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

The Indigo Inn (our home the last 2 days) has been delightful and has a nice history. It used to be a warehouse! Since Charleston has the strictest architectural rules in the country, the outside of this Inn must stay the same and even the color can never be changed, so the facade isn't pretty or ostentatious. However, the inside has been transformed into 40 lovely rooms with interior balconies, traditional furniture..mahogany & cherry rice-carved poster beds, fishnet canopy, granite-topped bathroom, sofabed, etc. A wonderful Courtyard adds to the ambiance with plantings, flower boxes, pond & lion fountain. Parking right there in the heart of Charleston, a fantastic breakfast with fresh fruit, croissants, amazing pastries, ham/cheese warm sandwiches, etc. Fresh lemonade & tea is available all day..cocktail hour with wine & cheese served 4:30-6PM..this Inn charges $100-$150 less than the bigger hotel next door! We were very pleased.

The kind front desk clerk allowed us to check in 3 hours early. Our room (104) was on the first level outside the garden courtyard, and was not noisy at all. The room was well appointed with a king bed, sofa and chair. The shower was large and all tile with a sink and vanity on the outside (separate) to allow for better use of the space. The AC worked great and provided a reprieve from the heat. The courtyard was also a cool, marvelous place to enjoy breakfast and wine and cheese. Breakfast was well done. I recommend getting to it when it opens at 7:15 as the selection is very good and well presented. The wine and cheese is also recommended at the start, it is something not to be missed as it provides a great start before dinner. Proximity to downtown attractions is optimal. The price is very attractive.

Couldn't have had a more perfect experience. The staff was wonderful and made reservations and recommendations on things to do and places to go that we're spot on. The continental breakfast was just the right amount and the happy hour complimentary wine and cheeses made for a great afternoon treat. Would gladly stay there again!!!

Great staff, lovely room in a great part of the historic district with free parking. Good value and charming patio - wine hour in the afternoon is a lovely break from sight seeing. Parking attendant, maid service and front desk personnel were all very friendly and professional. I'd stay here again for sure. Also very quiet, private and safe for solo female travelers.

Perfect location. The room was nice. A bit on the older side. The lighting in the bathroom area was very dim. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked great. They have a nice courtyard in the center that is covered with a light net. The breakfast was your basic continental offering. They provide trays so you can take it back to your room, or to the courtyard. It's a tiny space, so be prepared to wait. The wine and cheese hour in the afternoon is nice to come back to after exploring the city. They also have water, iced tea, and coffee available all day. The staff was friendly and most helpful with directions and recommendations.

We just came back from our long weekend in Charleston. The hotel is super nice, clean, and friendly staff. The only thing I would say is that the breakfast is NOT deluxe like they say on the website and you better get up early because otherwise is not much left. I believe that they should keep ALL the items out until 10 am (time that is suppose to end). This hotel is in a perfect location. Walk distance to main attractions.
