This was the first trip for my family to Charlston and we were only staying one night. Unfortunately when we checked in at 3 o'clock, the inn was without water. Plumbers were working around the clock trying to get it turned on it was still not working for the entire evening we were there. We had to even take her children across the street to their other in the restroom. Because everyone was so nice I hesitated to complain, but I could not avoid that it was somewhat ruining the trip. When I mentioned it to the manager, he offered to move us to another room. However it was already getting a little late and we need to go on a ghost tour. I asked if there would be anyway to get some compensation and very unexpectedly they gave us a giant discount. More than fair enough. The bottom line is, they gave no excuses for the fact that their problem had impacted our vacation and just made the situation right. I loved the rooms, the beds were comfortable, the courtyard was charming. And the staff was beyond belief! Would stay here again!

We do apologize that the plumbing had to be addressed during your vacation, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during that difficult time. We look forward to seeing you in the future under more pleasant circumstances!!!

If you want to be able to walk to all the sites on the map, to the top eating places and the lovely mansions, the market and the carriage tours - this is a great place to stay. Every morning, a breakfast of typical continental fare is laid out plus a hot dish that varies from day to day - and that makes all the difference! Its not the motel-style waffle - its eggs w/coins of sausage and sauteed fresh veges lightly seasoned - yum! You can take breakfast to your room or sit in the cool courtyard listening to the water fountains, and visiting with the friends you made the previous night over wine and cheese. Indigo Inn is family friendly, dog friendly, but not neither kids nor pets were ever a nuisance. If you are the type that enjoys staying in the old French Quarter of New Orleans this is for you, The Inn is an old Indigo warehouse whose interior was totally gutted. All rooms open onto a gallery walk with wrought iron railings that ring the interior courtyard. Stepping out of your room brings you onto the open gallery, looking into or down on the courtyard full of greenery and water features. It is quaint - and yet the elevator always works! The only negative is the air conditioners for each room exhaust to the gallery (but through decorative wrought iron camouflage) so thats a bit noisy. Our room was on the top floor, it was quite okay for size -it held two very comfortable queen size beds, two comfortable period chairs, two side tables, a triple dress and a highboy without being crowded. The bathroom was reasonable size, clean with a two sinks and hair dryer. The shower and toilet had their own door. Closet space was sparse in our room - but we werent hanging much so didnt mind. I have difficulty walking and the staff was really helpful when I had problems. They ran to get doors opened, helped me with food trays, all the little things that add up to a big difference. Given our experience there and the cost differential, we would definitely return to the Indigo!

Room Tip: We loved being on the 3rd (top) floor - liked looking down into the courtyard.

I have stayed at many hotels (for business and pleasure) in and around the Charleston, SC area for the past 25 years. My wife and I have walked past the Indigo Inn countless times and this past weekend we spent our first, two-night getaway at this wonderful, charming, enchanted Inn. The Indigo Inn is a true representation of what keeps us coming back to the Holy City time and time again. Quaint, comfortable, excellent value, and of course... a perfect location, being nestled in the heart of one of the most delightful restaurant, shopping, and historic districts on the planet. We decided before we left that the Indigo Inn would be a staple accommodation for us on future visits. It is truly a gem.

Room Tip: Try to book a room on the first floor. A wonderful courtyard is located in the center of the Inn an...

The location of the Inn is perfect for walking to Charleston's historic centre of beautiful buildings, waterfront, shops, markets and fantastic restaurants and bars. Excellent breakfast and complimentary wine on offer late afternoon which was a good time to unwind before getting ready for the evening. Beds very comfortable but the room a little smaller than expected and could be noisy if there were late night revellers in the courtyard. Staff friendly and helpful and easy on site parking which is a bonus in the centre of town. We loved Charleston and the location of the Inn and its facilities were ideal for exploring the area.

Given our first 2 highly enjoyable stays at the Indigo Inn, we booked another trip last week and with another couple this time. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location in Charleston is perfect. The inn remains classically quaint and the rooms are very comfortable. Highlights include a good breakfast and a late afternoon wine & cheese table which can either close a good afternoon or set up a good evening. The managers were very helpful answering questions and in recommending various things to do in town. We will definitely book the Indigo Inn on our next trip to Charleston.

This location is ideal, walking distance to the water, the market, the historic homes, King Street. The courtyard in the middle is a great place for breakfast in the morning, the afternoon wine social hour or planning the next activity. The room, however was small and the sink didn't drain. Front desk staff were friendly enough.
