First visit to Charleston and wanted to be close to the attractions downtown. Accommodations in that neighborhood were pretty pricey so this was a good compromise. Just across the bridge from the peninsula and quite a bit more affordable.

It's a short ten minute drive from the heart of downtown. A cab ride from downtown costs around $8. There is a shuttle but it only runs every two hours and fills up. Room was clean, nothing fancy. But we had window overlooking the river and the view was great. The restaurant and lounge on the top floor also have a spectacular view of the city.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend college visit. The hotel is just outside downtown Charleston. It is clean and the beds are very comfortable. You have to go to the top floor bar for a drink, the view is fantastic.

The room was clean, but definitely no frills and in need of a remodel. The hotel is difficult to enter and exit. I wish this had been mentioned. It felt like a challenge every time we had to leave. The staff was pleasant . Not sure if we would return, but that is due mostly to the hotels location.

I was part of a group of military vets who reserved 13 rooms at this hotel. The hotel was fantastic is meeting our every need. We had rooms which overlooked the rivers and the downtown area. The rooms, even though they were older, were very clean and the beds very comfortable. Each room had a 32" flat screen with cable TV. The bathrooms were clean but were showing their age. Most new showers have a shower head that sits higher on the wall. This was just a small thing as the overall room was exceptional.

The staff from the manager down to the young man who was a "go getter" were extremely accommodating and friendly. The free shuttle service to the historic district was a definite plus. Our members didn't have to drive and fight the traffic on the small streets.

The restaurant was a welcome surprise. Most hotel restaurants are overpriced and the food underwhelming. Not this one. We tried the fried shrimp and prime rib. Both were excellent choices.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone planning a trip to Charleston, SC.

Dear JCBryan,
We appreciate your military service and your business. Our cleaning staff works extremely hard to make sure every guest has a clean and comfortable room during their visit. We are pleased that you enjoyed the free shuttle, restaurant and our mouthwatering prime rib. Thanks for recommending our hotel to anyone who visits Charleston.

The staff was engaging and caring. Thank you Marybeth for treating me like a friend. I was delayed for 8 hours and I was allowed to rest overnight without worry. The restaurant has a wonderful view of the city and great food. Thank you restaurant staff for the home feeling. Jayda was a great server. The hallway had a mildew smell early in the am and the heating/cooling system made noise all night. However...everything can't be perfect, but excellence was achieved.

Room Tip: Go to the 10th floor

I came to this hotel with for a wedding so we had additional family members staying here as well. The front desk staff was very courteous and accommodation and actually very helpful. My own room was clean but other family member complained that their room was very musty smelling. There are no fans in the bathrooms which causes the room to fog for a while after showering and in turn must cause the ceiling to rot because my brother in-law felt it, and his finger slipped right through the ceiling and it was soggy. The beds were comfortable and the room was inviting. But overall the hotel is somewhat outdated and needs a revamp. The restaurant at the top of the hotel had a beautiful view but it was kind of ruined by an awful smell resembling body odor. The buffet was very reasonably priced and had a lot of options but overall was food quality was just mediocre. The restaurant staff on the other hand was not accommodating to our large party and frankly were quite rude. They hesitate to push tables together even though the restaurant was almost empty at this time and then after they agreed to. The were dragging there feet to clean the tables and do so. They said if we wanted to do that, it would be a while. oh and forget about coffee, if you miss the lobby in the morning you're out of luck cause they stop serving it. Seems a little cheap to me, seems only right that if you're going to have coffee you just have it brewing all day. The thing that really bothered me about this hotel is that with about 13 or so family members who haven't seen each other in a long time, we had no where to gather and spend time together. There was a small lounge by the front desk but could only fit a few people and seem more like a waiting area then a place to relax. We had to get together in one of the rooms which was cramped and uncomfortable. One day we pushed all the chairs to one corner of the pool area so we could spend time with each other. The location of this hotel is pretty and quite convenient to the downtown area. The hotel shuttle was great for that reason as well, but I thought that getting in and out of the hotel parking lot was somewhat dangerous, it sits on a busy highway and you cant see around the corner when you're pulling out. Maybe even if they cut the brush back a little bit it would be better. I'm not sure. Overall very so-so to me definitely room for major improvement
