“Not downtown, but very convenient”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

We spent $135 per night including taxes, etc. Great views right on the river, get a room on a higher floor. Was clean and quiet. The front desk people were very helpful and accommodating. One of the front desk people offered us free tickets to the PGA at Kiawah for any day we would like. You can get downtown in 5 minutes. We did not eat here but go up to the top and have a drink and enjoy the gorgeous views. Free parking in their lot. Basic room with 2 queens, bathroom was fine. Would stay here again.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stay in Charleston that was cheaper than downtown but still close to all the attractions. This place really hit the spot!!!! Upon arrival there was a man handing out glasses of champagne (it actually worked out very well since my boyfriend proposed to me later that evening.) The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. However the bathroom was a bit tight but I think that had a lot to do with the shape of the hotel being round. The restaurant on the top floor was wonderful and the breakfast buffet was pretty good and the view from up there was amazing. We will be visiting Charleston again soon and will most definately be staying here again.

This hotel has an amazing view. However, for $215/night (without a view) after taxes it's not worth it. I used to live in downtown Charleston and I suggest paying the extra $75 and be in the heart is downtown. You can go up to the top restaurant and grab drinks to see the view. Don't bother eating there though it's overpriced and the food is no justifiable.

Room Tip: Stay on lower floor the elevator takes awhile to get up and down.

We try and keep our prices competitively priced for the market. We also have a free shuttle that takes guest downtown and the $75 dollars you would save on the room and $15 dollars you would save on parking by not staying downtown you can treat yourself to one of Charleston’s fines restaurants. Afterwards, grab a drink in our bar and enjoy the views of Charleston.

Where do I began, don't waste your time or money. First of all the front desk people at check in where not friendly or helpful at all. The room we check into had a musty oder. Only good thing bed was comfy. So we get up Sunday morning and leave at 9 o'clock only to come back at 4pm to find our room not clean. When we call down to the front desk to ask why and to try to find out if and when I'll room will get clean they tell us they don't know. So then after we get on the phone to talk to a manger they send up this rude lady from housekeeping who pounds on door and ask us do we want I room clean(really). So while talking to the regional manger the lady from housekeeping begins to curse at us not knowing her manger was getting off the elevator( Kate) she was very helpful and got the rude lady under control. So we had to leave our room again until they got it straight. I will never stay here again they really messed up what was suppose a great 19 year anniversary weekend for me and my husband.. Again don't stay here and Don't waste your money...

Sorry we did not meet your expectations when traveling. Your comments have been very helpful in training the Front Desk staff and Housekeeping staff, so this never happens again. In addition, the housekeeper that was not professional has been removed from her duties at our property. I would hope you would give us a second chance when traveling to Charleston in the future.

Our front desk staff is highly trained in providing the best customer service glad they were able to assist you in finding the best sightseeing places in Charleston. Being the hotel is round it gives you an amazing panoramic view of the Ashley River and downtown especially on the higher floors.

Pro's:
Location and accessibility
View - hard to beat, especially from the restaurant on top, and from the pool
Friendly service
Shuttle to downtown attractions (didn't use it, but glad it's available).
Clean overall

Con's:
The building is a little dated, and could use some renovation in the areas of plumbing (valves, showerheads, etc.), and carpetting.
Bathrooms are a little small, but again, it's just the way the building is designed.
Leaving the parking lot can be tricky, because of the speed of oncoming cars.

Thanks for your business and the comments. Our staff is focused on customer service and truly appreciates your patronage. Even though you did not use our Free shuttle downtown this time maybe you can use it next time. Being the building is “round” it offers fantastic views of Charleston that cannot be matched!

Every hotel we looked up in the downtown area were ridiculously priced. This holiday inn was moderately priced, minutes from downtown and although not all rooms come with a view, it is an option when making your reservations (but be sure to get the view). Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful during our stay.
