If you have any sensitivity to the architecture of Charleston and to the salt marshes that provide the city with its beautiful setting, avoid this hotel. Parked right in the middle of U.S. 17 on a filled in segment of salt marsh, the busiest road in the area, this ugly round 15 story building is an environmental and an architectural abomination. Apart from an overall very good staff, the noisy location, lack of airport shuttle, lousy restaurant, and long walking distance to anything recommends against staying here. Cough up a few more bucks and stay downtown or in Mt. Pleasant. The rooms have relatively thin walls and closed off balconies which whistle with the winter winds. The beds are fine, the rooms are small but you wouldn't want to spend much time here. The bar is good but the food mediocre.

Thank you for having chosen our Holiday Inn Riverview in Charleston, SC; we appreciate your business. We are glad you enjoyed the service our staff provided; they work exremely hard to ensure all of our guests have a great experience. Our hotel has been a Charleston landmark for over 41 years. It offers some of the best views in Charleston and it is a great alternative to excellent downtown hotels where you'd have to "cough up" more than just a few bucks.

We stayed for one night in this hotel. The design and location of the hotel is very special and we enjoyed it. Room was good with a nice view over the river. Downtown is close (but you need a car). Aircon worked well. Breakfast was good. Overall we can recommend this place.

Well I stayed at the Riverview, and on the 9th floor we has a spectacular view of the city, the rivers, and the boats. all very pretty.
It was a bit tricky finding how to get in the parking lot, due to traffic rate.
Room was clean, good amount of plug in for electronics as well as free WiFi.
Restaurant good but a little pricey.
Hotel was quick to respond to most of my complaints. (With the exception -road noises in the a.m.) said they could do nothing about traffic noise.
I would recommend staying as good location and lots to do, see, and eat nearby.

Room Tip: Higer the farther from road noise

Thank you for having chosen our Holiday Inn Riverview in Charleston, SC; we appreciate your business. We are certainly glad you enjoyed your time with us. 41 years ago, when the hotel was built, we probably never envisioned Charleston growing to be voted the Top City in the United States by Conde Nast's Travelers magazine and its readers; we apologize for the traffic. We hope to see you again in the future.

Every staff member was both efficient and helpful while also being enjoyable. On several occasions staff went out of their way (not charging for a glass of milk at the bar, bringing me up to the roof for pictures) without being asked in any way.

Its true what others say, dealing with Charleston cabs is kind of a pain, so the free hotel shuttle is awesome. Parking and driving in the downtown looked terrible so I'm glad I never dealt with it! Hotel rooms are not 100% renovated, but the important parts like furniture, beds, electronics, and bath area are all newer and in good shape. Considering the price I found its a very good deal.

I got 2 three-dollar-off coupons to the restaurant for being in ICH club, combined them to get a pretty big made-to-order breakfast for 5 bucks one time... although they were out of biscuits- was not as disappointed by breakfast as several others reviews. Only other downside was slowest internet of any hotel I stayed at this trip.

The location is actually pretty good, downtown CHS is hard to deal with anyways, so this location ends up being about the same time to many attractions (like ft sumpter cruises) as more downtown hotels (of which there aren't many).

Room Tip: Don't pay too much extra for view-rooms, the hotel has interesting views in any direction and th...

Hotel was fine except for the musty smelling carpets and lack of refrigerator. Carpet in bathroom is the problem.view was good but window tiny. Be warned when you check in they swipe your debit card then when you check out they put the exact charges through again. To beet the original payment removed and credited back is almost impossible, we stayed there over a week ago and at this stage we have not received any refund. All the hotel will say is take it up with your bank!!. From now on we will never use a debit card to pay for accommodation,

Thank you for chosing our Holiday Inn Riverview during your stay in Charleston SC; we appreciate your business. In the travel industry (hotels, rental car agencies, etc), a hold on a card for incidental charges is a very common practice; almost the norm. Most guests want to enjoy all of the features and ammenities hotels have to offer. To protect themselves, hotels request the banks or issuing credit cards to hold an additional fee to cover any additional expense on the part of the guest. If a guest does not incurr additional charges, at the time of check out, the hotel sends the bank a request to release the unused hold back to the customer's account. Depending on the issuing bank or credit card, not the hotel, it may take up to 30 days for a hold to be released back to the customer's account. In regards to the window, all of our rooms feature full length windows. If there is anything we can assist you with in the near future, please let us know.

Known as the "Hairroller" by residents.......We stayed here for a reunion and had an exceptional time. Two choices of pillows hard or soft...two choices of mattress hard or soft in double bed rooms... Staff was very willing to help.

Shuttle takes you down to Market Street and three other drop off places, so you don't have to drive. Takes 5 mintutes to get there. Free shuttle and parking

The breakfast buffet - I would skip ( it was included in our room price). Every day the same thing and it was not hot. Great views of city and bridge from restaurant though.
Have a drink !! ! !!! !
