“Convenient location and great staff!”

We stayed here for several nights and we had a blast! I had mentioned in our reservation that we were there for our 24th wedding anniversary. Well, imagine my surprise!! We got to our room and there were 2 bottles of coke, 2 bottles of water and a bottle of wine sitting on the table waiting for us. Yes, they included the wine glasses too! Being a Hhonors gold member you get the water and coke for free anyway. Like all Embassy suites hotel, all their rooms are suites. However, being the old location of the Citadel, the building is old but yet interesting and full of history.
Their breakfast is made to order or buffet style. My only complain is their orange juice, it's not real orange juice but hey! Can't complain when they are complimentary.
You have two choices of parking. One is valet parking for $20 a night is self park for $14 a night. If you go during the weekend, get the valet parking. It's not worth the hassle since parking is so limited. I highly recommend this hotel. Location is awesome convenient to everything around town. They have excellent customer service especially their front desk!

My husband and I stayed for our 1 year Anniversary. We had a wonderful corner room with a sitting area, a bedroom with a king sized bed, an upgraded bathroom, and an oversized soaking tub. The configuration of the room was a little strange with the tub over in a seperate corner of the bedroom away from the bathroom, but it wasn't a big deal.

The breakfast is included and it is one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had. Of course there were eggs and breakfast meats, as well as some good ole southern grits!

The history of the hotel is wonderful, used to be the original Citadel. This gives is a unique layout and it feels like a boutique hotel with a big name brand behind it.

Without a doubt the best part of this hotel was the location. It is right off of Marion Square and for relatively fit people it is easily within walking distance to the King Street shopping area, the market, and many popular downtown restaurants and attractions. We spent the entire afternoon and evening ambling around town.

This is a great place to stay in Charleston that has a boutique feel, luxury accomadations and an awesome location

Stayed two nights with HHonors points. When checking in, Tara at the front desk was wonderful! She provided a document with the history of the building from the time of its inception (early 1800's, original Citadel) until its present day as an Embassy Suites hotel. We had a very spacious corner room on the top floor overlooking one of the "turrets"; replete with gunports. Breakfast was good, didn't stick around for the evening managers reception. Lots of great dining/pubs/coffeehouses within a 15 minute walk (try Coast, Kaminsky's Most Excellent Cafe, Mercato, Closed for Business (actual name of cute pub)). One block from Historic Charleston Visitors Ctr, College of Charleston, and just a few blocks from Market Street and the waterfront. Easy walking to all tourist attractions if your in moderate shape.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window and view of Marion Park.

Beautiful hotel. We only had one day to stay, just one of those "let's go do something different" trips. The lobby and gathering areas were beautiful. The hotel is in a great location and the staff were very helpful and courteous! The room was well appointed and very nice. Because our reservations were last minute, we could only get a queen room. We are used to a king-size bed. Even so, the bed was comfortable and the bedroom was nice. Looking forward to another trip, planned, so we can enjoy all the amenities, as well as seeing more of Charleston.

We were there 2 nights. Nice hotel, great location. Not your standard embassy suites layout. We had a room with 2 double beds, even with the sitting area, it was way too cramped for the 4 of us, my husband and 2 kids.i wish we would have gotten a larger room. Breakfast is included and was fabulous! The perfect way to start your day! The staff was very helpful and will guide you wherever you need to go. All in all, a good experience.

This is an interesting hotel. It's built in to part of the old Citadel. The location is great, one block from the Charleston visitor center and the tourist trolley, and a half block from King Street shopping. Beautiful lobby. Our room, while smaller than most Embassy Suites, was comfortable, quiet, and well appointed (Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries). The concierge, Mr. Bellany, was very helpful in touring advice. We had a wonderful time. It was disappointing that there was no information anywhere (that I could see anyway) about the history of the building. Breakfast is a problem. The good news is that the food is good. The bad news is that no matter when you seem to go, there's not enough seating. People were eating out in the lobby and taking food to the back lounging area of the hotel; very gauche, but there's literally no place else to go. The hotel should consider re-doing the lounge area where the bar is and replace the lounge upholstered furniture and coffee tables with high top tables and chairs that can dual-purpose as breakfast overflow with more capacity. Also, be mindful that Embassy Suites attract lots of families with little ones as the room configurations and free breakfast are ideally suited. I'd pick a room that was on a higher floor as kids were running around playing in the area outside of first floor rooms. Finally, the "self park" garage is directly across the street from the hotel and offers in/out privileges--very convenient.

Room Tip: Avoid the main floor, which can double as a playground.

When we had gotten to the hotel the hole family was soaking wet from the rain. Tucker the valet offered to get us some towels to dry off. We then went to get our rooms, and when we got into one of them the toilet was backed up. I went to the front desk and talked to Carolyn and Maggie to get it taken care of. Carolyn let us know that it would be a few minutes, and that she would get the room freshened up to get the smell out. We than asked Tucker the valet where a good place out of the hotel was to eat. Tucker told us of a fantastic Italian restaurant Pane E Vino with in walking distance of the hotel. It was a realty great recommendation. The hole family enjoyed it and again Tucker went the extra mile to make sure that our stay was the beast that it could be Thank You. At the managers reception Savanna the bar tender had a great positive friendly attitude and helped make it a fun time.
