I have spent over the past 22 years, 1783 nights at the Best Western on Savannah Highway in Charleston, SC . Why would I stay anywhere else while I'm in Charleston?

The staff is cheerful and genuine, the service is four star and the location is convenient.

The BWSweetgrass is glad you are here. when you walk into the bright lobby. .A parking lot with plenty of spaces, easy access to your room, and a room that is chilled for you with the temps in the high 90s - this is where you are happy to be. The room was spotless and the beds were extremely comfortable. Great tv and wi-fi, and plenty of furniture for whatever you needed. A huge plus is the extended bathroom - there was an additional sink and mirror in the room which eliminated waiting your turn for the mirror! If you wanted to swim, that was no problem. The pool is huge and used quite often. If you wanted breakfast (it was great), you need to wash clothes, or you need a snack, or there's something you need that you don't see, the staff is right there with the answer. Restaurants, gas, the mall, and K-Mart for whatever you require are no more than 5 minutes away. We will return here again for these reasons, but the biggest reason to return is the staff. Monique and Jenet along with all of the staff were very welcoming, answer friendly, and whatever your request or question was, they made sure they took great care of you. They were genuinely interested in the young lady who was auditioning for American Idol, and you saw that same care and encouragement given to all of their other guests. It's a great location, super value, but the staff are what makes BWSweetgrass! .

Room Tip: Call the hotel directly and request the room you want.

We stayed several nights at the Sweetgrass Inn, and we would highly recommend it.

Linda works really hard to keep the breakfast area clean and well-stocked. She is so friendly and helpful. She always offers to make waffles for everyone, and she keeps the tables cleared and the area clean and tidy. She went above and beyond expectations.

Sharon in housekeeping was also great. She made sure our room was in top-notch condition. She stopped and introduced herself one day in passing, took an interest in us and wanted us to be sure and let her know if there was anything else we needed.

We booked our hotel reservation through hotels.com like we always do and we've never had any problems before. We get to the hotel and they tell us that what we reserved online is only a recommendation and they don't have to follow exactly what we reserved. As far as I'm concerned, the point of booking a RESERVATION online is to RESERVE to type of room that you want. We reserved a room with two beds non-smoking, and they told us quite rudely and bluntly: we could have a smoking room, a room with one bed, or they can cancel the reservation. They did not offer to help us find a new place to stay at all. Why would they not honor our reservation?? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WITH BEST WESTERN. The Comfort Suites next door actually looked up some alternate options for us, but Best Western didn't seem to care about the problem THEY put us in. There is no reason that BUYING a room on hotels.com is any different than buying a room directly from them, and why they didn't honor our reservation, I have no idea.

We are very much aware of this guest. I have reviewed their reservation which was made through the website they listed and was made for a room with ONE queen size bed, not two beds as they claim. They did request a room with two beds but RESERVED a room with one bed. When we attempted to give this guest the room they reserved, they became quite angry.

As we did not have a suitable solution (we were full except for smoking rooms) we offered to cancel their reservation and to have the third party refund their money.

My husband and I spent our second trip (to Charleston) at Sweetgrass Inn. A mix up the first night left us in a room far from the pool, on the second floor, but we were moved the next afternoon. After that - all was good. Clean rooms, comfortable.
The ladies at breakfast are very helpful and friendly. The cleaning lady also gave us special care. The front desk was kind when our room key wouldn't work - three times - and suggested it might be because we keep it close to our cell phone.
Breakast , by the way, has many choices and is really a relaxing place to begin the day. You can eat indoors or outside looking at the pool. Good coffee.
The pool is amazing. Lots of room and plenty of chairs and tables. Sweetgrass has a beautiful landscape with lots of flowers, bushes and trees. Red birds on the fence.
Over all, Sweetgrass is a welcome, quiet and relaxing hotel, unlike nosiy downtown. We would choose it again and again over the downtown hotels.

Room Tip: First floor rooms by the pool are great. Take quarters for washer and dryer.
