Simply put, this hotel is an excellent value. Our room was clean, comfortable and well furnished. The staff was helpful and friendly and the parking was easy. While so many other Charleston Hotels charge ridiculous rates, the King Charles is more than fair and in my mind is really competing and beating many higher star and price hotels in the historic district. I had given up on Best Westerns years ago as most of the seemed tired and out-of-date. King Charles has made me think twice about this assumption. The room had a useable fridge that was very welcome. Two tiny things are lacking at this hotel - triple sheeting (usually found only at higher star establishments anyway) and good views from the rooms (not much the hotel can do about this). If you MUST have either of those two things, this isn't the place for you. Everyone else should find this a perfect place to enjoy Charleston!

As I am sitting here drinking a cup of complementary coffee in the Hotel's nicely appointed lounge, using the free Wi-Fi, I though why not write this review. The Hotel is extremely well cared for, with a very friendly staff. The rooms are better than the normal Best Western you will find on the highway, with marble counter tops, and what appears to me to be upgraded furniture. The bed is most comfortable, with pillow top matresses. If you want location you cannot beat the King Charles. Anything and everything within walking distance, restaurants, the Market, the Battery, etc. And with free parking (if you have been to Charleston you know parking is at a premium) you could possible park the car and leave it until your ready to go home. A trolley stop is directly across the street from the Hotel. This is our second stay with many more too come. FYI, the Hotel is renovating at this time. But don't worry, the crews only work from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. which was no bother at all for us.

1/15/11 We stayed in the King Charles Inn for one night. We had two couples in one room which was fine for one night since the rooms are not that big. The room was tastefully decorated, nice and clean and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is so close to everything... about a 5 minute walk to City Market. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. We would definitely go back... maybe in the summer to use their lovely pool! The price was very reasonable considering the location and parking was free which was a major plus. Just be careful when you walk in the bathroom... the floors are like ice! ;-) We did not encounter any problems with renovations like some people have commented on. Overall a great experience!

The room was perfect. Just in Charleston for one night , was going on cruise, so the location was excellent. The Front Desk staff was very nice and the room was clean. The bed was very comfortable, however, the room was a little small, but it is a historic hotel. You don't have to pay for parking, which was great (other places charged $25 a night) and breakfast was very good (you have to pay for, but very good and large selection).Charleston is a lovely city and I'd definitely stay at this hotel again!

Loved the hotel and location, certainly not your usual Best Western.
Great staff and obviously recently refurbished.
Ran into a lady in the parking lot "Shalli " I think, she was so helpful and obviously proud of her hotel. Carrying a bunch of papers and busy spent ten minutes of her valuable time giving us pointers to enjoy the beautiful city.
First Class.
We will return.
The King Charles Rocks!
