The staff was friendly and helpful and the location was superb. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is very attractive. It's just around the corner from historic Saint Mary of the Annunciation. Roman Catholic Church. Across the street is the Old City Market and within walking distance are restaurants and shopping on King Street. Highly recommend this property.

We have stayed at this hotel on two occaisions - the first a short stay, the second for 5 nights. We chose it first for location, and as it had good reviews. We returned because we really enjoyed the hotel and staff.

It is an older hotel, no doubt, standard rooms are on the smaller side, but in Charleston who wants to spend time in a hotel room, anyway? The room was very clean, the amenties good, bed comfortable, and bathroom spotless. They have center courtyard parking wich we like as we felt our car was more secure.

The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the restaurants and shops, and within walking distance for many of the sights (for us, anyway).

They have remodeled in the last few months and now have a full service bar with more room then the old lounge (although we loved that lounge). They also have a full service breakfast and may expand to more meals over time. The staff is as friendly as any we have experienced, from the desk to the bartender, to housekeeping - always said hello, and asked if there was anything we needed.

They were doing some painting and refinishing while we were there, but it didn't interfere with our stay, in fact it was great to see that they were really keeping the hotel in top shape.

Bottom Line: This is a really nice hotel, especially for couples; it has that old time hotel charm and elegance while maintaining a friendly and unpretentious feel. If you can, request a balcony room as they are more spacious; we were upgraded to one at no charge, and really enjoyed it.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are more spacious, if you can get one.

This hotel had been refurbished within the last year and it is beautiful. Common areas are very tastefully decorated and our room was a beautiful golden yellow. Everything is clean and new and it is being maintained to a very high standard. The location on Meeting street is very convenient. The DASH stops right across the street and two of our favorite restaurants are within a block and a half walk. When I booked this hotel I thought it would be perfectly adequate since we do not usually spend much time in our hotel rooms. This place far exceeded my expectations. IT IS GREAT!

This was our family's first visit to the lovely and as my daughter stated "classy" city of Charleston. I chose the King Charles Inn due to its location in the historic district. Since it was our first time, my husband and I wanted everything within walking distance from the hotel ~ with no worries about driving on the busy streets or looking for parking. We arrived in the a.m. (well before check in time); but, was immediately given a parking pass so we could leave our car and explore the city. When we came back 5 hours later, there was a slight hiccup in that someone was given our room by mistake. The hotel staff immediately rectified the situation. Upon arrival to our new room, the general manager called to apologize for the mix up. The 2nd floor conversation/computer area by the pool & cafe are a nice touch. We did not eat at the cafe or take advantage of the manager's reception. We were busy visiting the plethora of shops and restaurants the city has to offer. Our room was clean and met the needs of our family of four. You can tell it is an older hotel; however, it is well kept and staff are very friendly. They gave us recommendations on where to eat and visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the ghost tour and carriage ride. At check out, we were told we had free use of the hotel parking until 4 p.m., which allowed us additional time to explore Charleston. FYI: 2nd Sunday of every month, they close down King street for shopping, food and events.

Great hotel within walking distance of most everything in downtown Charleston. I don't usually stay at a Best Western but this was one of their better ones. Depending on the price, go for the king room instead of the queen. The queen is rather small and tight.

This is a fabulous hotel! The hotel itself is located within a 10 to 15 min walking distance from everything in the downtown and historical districts of Charleston. The hotel looked as though it was recently renovated. The rooms were spotless. The staff was friendly and helpful.
