“Great Hotel at a great price”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

The hotel is well situationed on Meeting Street -- easy walk to all attractions and a quick walk to the waterfront. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating -- helpful and welcoming without being overbearing. The hotel is lovely -- and the pool on the second floor is a delight. Really unexpected and very relaxing. The lobby and common spaces were very nicely appointed and comfortable. The room itself was beautiful -- well furnished, plenty of room and the bathroom was very high end. Right on a busy street but very quiet.

The King Charles in downtown Charleston is one of the BEST hotels I have ever stayed in for two very important reasons: location and staff. Easily said--the location is perfect. But the STAFF!!! The most Exceptional service I have received in a hotel in a long time, and that includes nice hotels in Miami Beach. Besides being well trained and knowing their game, the staff (especially Monica) was kind and thoughtful. Everyone we met, from management to porters, were efficient, courteous and knowledgeable. Excellent experience.

This hotel has really upgraded this facility from the last time I stayed there. The reception area, bar, and eating area are very nice-decor lovely. The staff were some of the best I have encountered in Charleston. One huge perk is the free parking-almost unheard of in Charleston. Plus they will let you keep the parking place until 4:00PM the day of check out! Location is fantastic- walking so easy and surrounded by great places to eat. Glad I gave it a try!

Great location. Easy and free on site parking - it was great to park yourself and use car whenever needed; a rarity in charleston. Nice that we could buy a quick and pleasant breakfast at the hotel. Pool - small but cute - was perfect for a dip. Most hotels and inns in charleston do not have a pool. What else? Free cheese and crackers afternoon reception was nice too. Other guests were friendly and pleasant. Staff and concierge very helpful with restaurantrecommendations, directions etc. Fantastic location - can walk to everything. Rooms clean and bed comfortable. Good to have a frig. If you are looking for charm or quaint or grand the king Charles isn't it. But was very glad we chose to stay there. Not at all cheap - weekend triple a rate was quite high but I think all places in historic charleston are pricey ( upwards of 200 per night).

Being located in the heart of the historic district sure makes the King Charles Inn irresistible when it comes to location! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed our nightly Welcome Reception! As the General Manager, I really enjoy meeting all our guests and being able to assist in any way I can! 4:30-5:30pm is my favorite time of the day! Thank you for you business!

Great location!, nice room, Very helpful staff, they were eager to give suggestions on what to do, plus we forgot a shoe there and after a call, they shipped it to our house in two days.
FREE PARKING, rare in this part of town. I was lucky and got this property bidding on priceline for $124.58 with tax, but if I come back I will pay what it costs to book through them.
Small but nice pool.

I found this hotel online and was interested because of the location and report of free parking. Both are correct and make this hotel a real value. We arrived July 9th and stayed for 2 nights in a King Bed room. The room was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was huge. The staff here was very helpful and the manager made a point of reaching out to speak to us each day and was a wealth of great information on travel tips and directions. She was great. There is at beautiful outdoor pool (small) and and covered patio for relaxing and having drinks outside. The menu is limited for breakfast, but the oatmeal with fruit was delicious They do not have a laundry room, but that is the only thing I would add to make this hotel even better. Make sure you have lunch at "Jestine's Kitchen" right down the street. There is a line to get in, but it is worth it.

Room Tip: Take the tour of the city on an air conditioned bus. The people on the carriage rides were packed in...

Stayed here for 3 days in July; Free Parking;(which is a find in Charleston); We had 2 double beds; very comfortable, very clean hotel and room; Front Desk staff very friendly and helpful; Nice cool off pool and nice happy hour with free cheese and crackers (drinks not included) The bartender Taylor was great; Breakfast is not included but served in the same area. We had juice coffee and try the ham and cheese crossiant. This Is in walking distance of all attractions or there is a free trolly at the door. Stop on you way in at the Charleston Visitor center; Get your tickets there; We made this our hub; Took a grayline tour; great; took a harbor tour ok( would stick with grayline); Loved the 1 hour carriage ride; Food--Jestines next door, fabulous , great low country food ( go at off time, could be long waits). Magnolias a more expensive restaurant was fabulous for lunch or dinner. Great service and great chef food (pecan pie was excellent)
