“Re: Great location and value.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

We stayed at this great Holiday Inn for three nights Oct. 15 -18 2013. We had a great room over looking the swimming pool area. It was so nice being able to open the glass door (3rd floor) for fresh air. The room was large, quite and very clean. The beds and pillows were wonderful. The front desk was fast to check us in and out. The nice sack with bottled water and Charleston chews was a nice touch for Honor members.
It was so nice being able to have a cup of tea or coffee any time of the day. Nice outdoor seating around the Hotel that was wonderful for a people watching outdoors and breakfast outside. The breakfast was very good having something different everyday. Carolyn, Elaine and Mike in the Breakfast area were great. Mike kept the area so clean even with the amount of people eating. Carolyn and Elaine keep the food stocked and clean for the full time of the breakfast being served. There were a lot of guest eating and they were right on top of it. Even as busy as they were, they would answer any question we had for them. Loved the personal touch everyone had was really appreciated.
The free Trolley is located just across the parking lot which was great. That really came in handy. Also parking was free which was very unusual. Take the Trolley and keep the car parked. It's hard getting around and finding a place to park. Watched some ladies from Colorado get a parking ticket. It was not cheap for parking over the 2 hour parking limit, $95.00 if I remember correctly. Take the trolley they are great. I highly recommend taking a City Tour with Charleston Tours. They pick you up at your hotel and give a really good tour for $22 each person. Our guide was really very good.
Be sure and tell anyone that asks where you are staying "It's not the "Round" one, its the other one". we were taken to the Round Holiday Inn by mistake. They are very close to one another.

Room Tip: I don't think you can get a bad room in this great Hotel...

The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. Robin in particular was incredibly kind! I was running late to breakfast this morning actually. Everyone in my party had overslept. Robin came to my rescue to bring me bags, aided in organizing all of my breakfast items, and even poured the drinks for us. She was so pleasant as she was helping. She definitely deserves recognition for her above and beyond services. :) The hotel is clean and has a nice location. Definitely a great place to stay!

The accommodations were very nice. Breakfast was good and the staff was willing to serve us in all ways possible. The room was nice, clean; the air conditioner unit was a little loud when it came on but wasn't too bothersome. The view outside of the hotel from the balconies wasn't amazing (mainly hospitals) but the location was awesome. Overall, made for a nice visit to Charleston!

We stayed there for two nights, the purpose was to visit the city and to enjoy downtown old buildings. The walking distance is maybe a walking distance, but the sidewalk goes through the construction sites, so not so very nice. Howevere there is a city bus for free going to the center, the bus stop is at the Lockwood street nearby. The hotel - a room had everything what is needed, not extremely quite with the vicinity of road 17. The wifi is for free, the parking also for free available with plenty of space. The only thing which stroke me was breakfast, the food was basic but still ok, however I am not used to paper and plastic dishes. I was told that is a standard in suuch hotels but, still come come, when I pay ca 150 US per night I would expect something more, but maybe I am spoiled by European / Asian standards. Anyway, the hotel is recommended for short stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room not facing road 17 if you need quite.

This Holiday Inn Express is quiet & modern, beds are comfortable, service is excellent (a special thanks to Harrison), & the breakfasts are varied and first rate. The location is downtown but outside the historic area. If you can put up with that, it's a superior value. Generally, we prefer the convenience of staying near good restaurants and tourist attractions, but we found that we'd have to pay much more for equivalent lodging in the historic area -- or settle for a smaller, noisier, shabbier place, as we did on a previous stay. We didn't regret our decision. We had a spacious, clean room with two queen beds on 7th floor, with a lovely view of the Ashley River. Room was well equipped, with a large mini-fridge, microwave oven, & in-room safe. The balcony only extends outward a foot or so, so you can't sit on it, but you can enjoy the fresh air if temperatures are right. The AC can be loud if set on high, but once we got it adjusted it operated at a continuous, fairly quiet hum. We were never bothered by any noise from adjacent rooms, the hall, or from outside. The first day, we walked to the historic area. Not a good idea. It's a long walk (2 miles to The Battery without any stops along the way), and the traffic around the hotel is treacherous. Take the free DASH trolley--there's a stop right beside the hotel parking lot--or you can get a cab ($10 for two to anywhere in historic area). If you don't mind cruising around a bit and/or moving your car, you can take it into the center of town, as we did a few times. Mostly, we found free parking on residential streets, with a 2-hour limit. A few times, we parked at meters or left the car in a lot. The most we ever paid was $6 for 4+ hours, though we saw some garages charging $20 for all day. Charleston is a foodie's delight. Three restaurants we especially enjoyed in center Charleston: Poogan's Porch, Eli's Table, & Six Pence Pub -- all excellent & won't break the bank. Note that restaurant options around the hotel are very limited. All we found there were a few fast food joints and one full-service restaurant at the Marriott across the parking lot.

Nice clean hotel and a great breakfast. The hotel was an ideal location via the free Trolley to Historic Charleston. Everyone one at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The only negative is there are not very many places to eat near the hotel and the hotel does not have a full service restaurant; however, it will not stop me from staying there again when I visit Charleston..

Nice clean hotel. Pool looked nice but was too chilly to try. We chose it for the pet friendly feature and they were nice enough to give us a droppings bag dispenser and treats for our four legged friends. Staff was very nice and breakfast was good. Nice close proximity to a free trolley to take you down town. On the bad side nothing in walking distance but fast food.
