“Best Chops in Charleston”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

I've been here a few times but had to come and check out the newly added CAB Prime Dry aged steaks from Master Purveyors.

Needless to say I'm a meathead if that actually means something to me but... It's a killer steak. Brilliantly funky, wine-y, and slightly musky--in a good way.

We did apps of Steak Tartare and seared scallops. The steak was salty & tender with a certain mustardiness to the aioli and the requisite quail egg perched atop. The scallops were sweet and briny and contrasted nicely with the Brussels sprouts.

Bibb and Tatsoi with goat cheese salads were great salad courses.

My wife loved the carved tenderloin frites and of course the Dry aged bone in Rib was phenomenal. Peter Luger can't cook steaks on Broad Street! We paired all this with smokey bacon macaroni and cheese (good to see someone do elbows for a change!) and had the sommelier pair a glass with each course.

Espresso, Capp, Limoncello, and chocolate cake to finish--then a deep coma-like sleep for about 18 hours...

“Don't waste your Time or Money!”
Reviewed February 28, 2014 via mobile

Charleston has so many fabulous Restaurant's and this is not one. It is more of a loud local watering hole. Last night was the worst. A very loud local came in and after manhandling the poor embarrassed Hostess, he then proceeded t make a buffoon of himself. Loud and unruly. No one from Management approached him until my husband and myself complained. He was just moved to the back of the bar. He himself being a partner in his own establishment, should know better.
Being a woman, it was embarrassing to watch the Hostess take that kind of treatment. Not acceptable.
The steaks were just ok. After a tab of $200.00 more should be expected.
So do yourself a favor, stick with the Restaurant called S.N.O.B. always wonderful and professionally managed.

“One of the Better Steakhouses in the Southeast”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

For Valentine's Day, my girlfriend chose Oak Steakhouse. We entered at 9pm and were promptly seated. For Valentine's Day we expected more "private" seating. We were closely seated next to two other couples. That did not dissuade us from a great meal. The food was superbly cooked and presented. The 16oz Ribeye was the best steak I have ever consumed.

The one negative was the dress of many of the customers. For Valentine's Day, and well, pretty much every day, I would conjecture one would wish to dress well and proper for a such a fine establishment. I saw a few folks wearing Hollister-branded t-shirts, as well as someone who looked like he was fresh out of a rap video. The dress code should be enforced.

“A GREAT EXPERIENCE!”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

We regularly visit the Charleston SC area and have eaten at many restaurants in the area. From the moment we arrived at Oak the service, atmosphere and food were exceptional. Each course was amazing and the presentation was equally as good. We would highly recommend Oak and would not hesitate to return when we visit again. A+

“Fried Lobster”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

I have had fried lobster before but not like this. The cut it in half and deep fry it and serve it with warm melted butter. There bone in Rib eye was good but I felt it was a might bit to salty for my taste. The atmosphere was much more comfortable here than at Halls Chop House, the crowds are smaller and not as loud. Much nicer for a cozy meal.
