This place has a really awesome concept and the environment is nice. However, bartenders are lazy and the service is not very good. Not a bad place to check out if you're in the area but certainly not worth going out of your way.

We finally tried the Bay Street Biergarten and weren't disappointed. German style menu with a southern touch! They have a huge selection of beer and a neat concept with the various tap stations. We had the fried pickle and pig wing appetizers and they were excellent. For entree we ordered and split a BSB cheese steak sandwich and the sausage spatzle....lots of food and really delicious! It has a very casual and friendly atmosphere and the service was excellent. Lots more on the menu that looked good so we will return!

Wow, Thanks for posting such an awesome review. We take great pride in our food and our beer. The fried pickles are one of our favorites, great choice! We’re looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Everyone in our party of 16 had a good dinner here, but be careful on street parking if the lot is full.

Ribs, burgers, shrimp po-boy, salads all solid thumbs up votes. Kids to grandparents all said they wanted to go back. Homemade tater chips and beef jerky pints were hard to resist, and plenty of choices. Reasonably priced food and plenty of sandwich choices. Beer was the moneymaker - and on the high price end for $5/draft pints.

There was a good grownups only outdoor seating area with live music.

Bummer: Parking lot was full; and one car in our party got a ticket parking on the street right behind the place - if there was a sign for a satellite lot, it was not obvious to the uninitiated. On the way out we noticed a parking attendant, too bad he didn't warn us about the tickets.

Thank you for taking the time to provide our review page with such positive feedback. It’s awesome to hear that your whole party enjoyed the food and experience with us. We are sorry to hear about your parking ticket; space downtown can be limited. We hope to see you guys again soon.

The BSB is in an old warehouse in an underdeveloped section of Charleston. That adds to its charm and interest. It was way too hot and humid the day we visited to sit outside so we sat at a communal table inside. It seemed that the outside seating area is quite popular as evidenced by the crowd seen on Sunday afternoon the previous day.
The incised is cavernous with multiple large screen TVs showing various sports channels. Each table has a triple or quad beer tap, all different. you get a preloaded charge card that you use to unlock the taps, pouring yourself any amount of beer. Each is clearly described including the per ounce cost. A fun way to discover some great brews.
The food is superb and creative: pig wings, a southern version of poutine, house made beef jerky, and a jager schnitzel were all superlative. The small plates were far from small!
We left happy but over filled with drink and food. It was all too good to pass up.

Went for a Happy Hour and I'll be sure to come back and try them again. The beer selection was a bit overwhelming to be honest but that's not a draw back. The food menu was a but limited for my taste if you're not into bar snacks like pretzels and tots but everything we tried was good. The service was quick and the space was really nice for both indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a larger group give this place a try as they have plenty of room for you.
