“Gorgeous structure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

You cannot miss this bridge and I hope that you dont as you really need to go and visit. There is a great pier just down below that you need to walk and enjoy the views. It is especially gorgeous at night and the structure itself is simply beautiful. The views from below are just as great they are from above. The nice thing is that there is a walk-way on the bridge itself that can get quite busy but well worth your time. This is a must see if you are in Charleston.

“Take hike on the bridge. Wonderful views.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

The full walk I think is about 2 miles or so. It does get windy up so high, so be ready for that. Bikes, joggers and walkers all use the path. There is a bike route marked. But what a view on top. The bridge is a marvel of construction and beautiful of it's self.

“This is a crown jewel of Charleston Harbor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

This is an icon that was a long time coming! This is a marvel of modern engineering connecting downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant at the mouth of the Cooper River. From the bridge you can see downtown Charleston, the harbor, Ft. Sumter, The USS York Town, and the intercostal.

From Wikipedia:

The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, also known as the New Cooper River Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge over the Cooper River in South Carolina, connecting downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. The eight lane bridge satisfied the capacity of U.S. Route 17 when it opened in 2005 to replace two obsolete cantilever truss bridges. The bridge has a main span of 1,546 feet (471 m), the third longest among cable-stayed bridges in the Western Hemisphere. It was built using the design-build method and was designed by Parsons Brinckerhof.

“It's a bridge, a pretty one, but still a bridge.”

At night this bridge is a great spectacle, and even during the day, but you drive over it like any other bridge.

“MUST SEE WHEN LIT AT HOLIDAYS”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

We viewed the bridge on a tour of Charleston Bay. It is lit during the holiday season and must be a delight to see in the evening when it is aglow. Amazing expanse....did not take the time to drive across as we were not headed in that direction.
