Our guide and our horse Magic were great! Very informative historical tour that wasn't too long to bore my teenagers and was cool and unique enough to keep their attention! Had them even admitting that they enjoyed it! The photo op with the horse at the end was sweet, too. I chose this company because they were the only ones to at least advertise that they offered benefits to their employees and rest in a pasture for their horses!

We took this tour at 3:45 on a Tuesday in October. Beautiful weather. We were lucky to have Greg as our guide with Dakota pulling our carriage. Greg was very educated and knew so much about Charleston and the beautiful homes. He was excellent with Dakota, who was a big beautiful horse! Greg recommended really good restaurants and places to explore. I would have loved to took al four routes, so that we could have seen as much of the city as possible. But the city regulates where each carriage goes, so that the streets don't get jammed with carriages all in the same place at the same time.

We met some friends for lunch in Charleston and then decided to take a carriage tour. We just randomly picked this company. However, Tim, our guide, made it historically interesting and the banter made it fun. Carson the horse helped too. He was full of spirit and our guide knew just how to handle him. Tim took us back to the stable and showed us where Carson hung out between trips. He also explained a lot of the regulations and care for the horses.

We chose Classic Carriage Works for our horse drawn carriage tour of Charleston & we are glad we did. Since the quality of the tour rests solely on the shoulders of your tour guide, it is kind of the luck of the draw when it comes to getting a good tour. And, this is also how your tour is decided! There is a box full of colored balls the city uses to tell each carriage which area of the city your tour will be in (HONEST). Anyway, our guide, "Bones" explained this to us at the beginning of the tour, as he introduced himself as a native South Carolinian. Not only is he a S.C. native, but an educated one at that. Bones has two bachelor's degrees and a masters degree as well. The area we were given included Battery Park, so we were treated to a wonderful tour of some beautiful historic homes on the way with all of the history of each house. Not only the previous owners, but how old each house was, if it had been destroyed and rebuilt, etc.. All of the historic houses open for tours were pointed out as well. Some harbor history was narrated, as well. We were given info on the Battery Park itself and then headed back toward the market where the tour started. Much of the sites on the way back were churches, cemeteries, graveyards and history of the market itself. Oh, by the way, we had "Kevin" the horse & he is the biggest horse of all the carriages & is beautiful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Todd (guide) and Kevin (beautiful Percheron horse). Todd was quick-witted as well as very informative. Well worth the $20.
