The entire experience at Carolina's was weak. This was the top pick of the B&B owners too, too bad.
The service from the beginning was weak, the server did not give us his name. We ordered apps that were both weak in flavor. The rabbit was tasteless, added some salt, then still weak. I tasted the dumpling and it was like a dry mix of Bisquick. The dish reminded me of a hospital cafeteria meal. I let the server know that the dish lacked flavor and he promptly removed it form the bill without me asking. The salad my wife had was just ok. The main dishes were better, the flavor on the steak was very good, but the braised short ribs tasted like unseasoned chuck roast, watered down cooked in a crock pot.
We asked to server not to bring bread, but both of our dishes included bread. I really don't think he was listening to anything we said. My wife ordered the "restaurant week special" with was a three course including dessert. When we were finished, the server asked us if we would like any dessert, as if we had not already ordered. We had to tel him that she had already ordered dessert, the only choice there was that night. He had forgotten. Our table had a dropped fork as we were seated. I had to ask twice to get fresh silver.
Service was poor, flavor was absent, no spark to the room at all.
I guess the night was not terrible, but to sum it up into one word, weak. It would be difficult for us to return to Carolinas. Sorry for the poor review. Hope it is helpful however.
