All pluses for this restaurant. The food was outstanding, service fantastic and just an over all great dinner. Our waiter was the best I have had in years.

“Went for brunch mem day weekend”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Went for brunch on memorial day weekend. When we got there they had live jazz music in the bar which was really nice. The ceiling fans in the main room with the big windows gave the room a true southern feel. We got sat in the smaller room but that was ok - right next to a window so we could see the action on the street ;) I got Crab benedict (a fried green tomato topped with a crabcake then topped with a poached egg. It was soooo gooood. sweet tea was great there. Oh and I got the straberry rubarb cobbler and that good too. Friend got the pecan pie and thought it was the best he ever had.

“A bit disappointed”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

I visit Charleston approximately 4-5x on an annual basis and with each visit we attempt to try out at least one new restaurant. High Cotton has been high on my list for months, however, it was not until my most recent trip that we finally were able to secure a decent reservation time. Overall, our experience was good however it did not meet my expectations (especially after a fabulous experience at the the sister restaurant, S.N.O.B. right across the street). The atmosphere is typical of an upscale Charleston restaurant and the building was beautiful. We had the crab & mussel appetizer which was just okay, rather salty. I had the Charleston Crap Bisque as well which was very yummy! My entree was the lamb rack which was tender, delicious and cooked to perfection; however, it was VERY fatty. I felt that i got very little meat. Our server was knowledgable and nice, however, she could have been a bit more attentive. Our entrees took quite a bit of time to come out. We noticed several nearby tables who arrived after us,that had also ordered appetizers, with their entrees several (10-15) minutes prior to us receiving ours. Overall, the food was good, but I'd recommend trying either Slightly North of Broad or Amen Street which are literally steps away.

“Our Favorite Charleston Restaurant”
Reviewed May 31, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten in several very good restaurants in Charleston, and we have developed some high expectations. After three visits High Cotton exceeds them all. A perfect atmosphere, classy but not stuffy, peaceful, not rushed, and just the right amount of live music filtering in from the bar. Our server, Allison, was perfect: attentive, kind, very knowledgable, and fun. Every morsel of food and drink we put in our mouths was carefully created and presented, and tasted absolutely delicious. The chef and his staff have created a sense of care and attention to detail with every dish, from the seafood appetizers, salads, to the entrees. The taste combinations with each dish were perfect, almost unbelievable. The desserts are not an afterthought, but also reflect the same value for being the best they can create. Be sure to ask about the chocolate praline soufflé - not on the menu and amazing. High Cotton is doing it right.
