The Sunday brunch at High Cotton was a great experience. My husband and I went primarily to hear The New South Jazzmen, a Dixieland jazz band that we followed for years when they entertained at Mistral, which closed three years ago. We ate in a lovely, bright dining room and enjoyed our entrees. I had perfectly prepared eggs benedict, and hubby a respectable cobb salad. We also were served a sweetgrass basket filled with cornbread squares. It was a little on the sweet side for my taste, but I think most people prefer sweet cornbread. Our server was adept, friendly, and professional. Our only disappointment was that the live music was too muted to sound like more than a recording.
After settling our bill in the dining room, we snagged a small table in the bar. We order drinks and listened to the band for over an hour. Those guys are still are terrific! We'll be back.
