The Smocked Pork chop was very good, some might want to have it well done. Grouper came just right.
My friends had Pecan pie which was superb, I had Cream Brule which was OK , Highly recommended. Long wine list.

“One of the Best Restaurants in a Sea of Great Restauarants”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

We have had the pleasure of eating at Charlestons great and classic restaurants such as Magnolia's, Charleston Grill and Poogan's Pooch, etc. but I must say High Cotton was just as good if not a little better than some of the restaurants. The best part of it is that it is so affordable. We had a wonderful dinner of shrimp and grits which were one of the best s&g dishes I have eaten, my husband had rabbit which was incredible. No gamey taste whatsoever. We shared a side dish of roasted brussell sprouts which were heavenly. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was superb. Do not miss a chance to go here. Very creative dishes but with an old school feel. Can't wait to go back when we are back in Charleston.

Fried green tomatoes on the chicken sandwich made a sky high sandwich! The decor was beautiful, even the wallpaper in the ladies room.

“Going down hill”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

Our family dines out a lot and we frequent many area restaurants. Recently we have noticed a change in HC the food is not on par as in the past. Our latest visit was for lunch. We shared the Charcuterie which we always order bc it reminds us of living in France. Wouldn't recommend now bc they really were rather chintzy on the meat/sausage samplings (two paper thin slices of some of the meats) more generous on the mustards. Prior visits that was not the case. The grouper/oyerster po boy was the worst two oysters and a two inch piece of fried grouper on an almost brunt roll. Way more bread than fish! The fries that accompanied the sandwich were small shards. Salad was not too bad if they do not give you the thick membranes of the romaine. However the crab cake sandwich was pretty good but for the price you can go to many places for a great crab sandwich in the city. Hopefully HC changes bc until we won't be back.
