“Another amazing meal....”
Reviewed June 1, 2014 via mobile

I am fortunate to get to Charleston a few times a year, and while the city has more then it's fair share of great restaurants, I keep on returning to my favorites, Charleston Grill and Palmetto Cafe. The food, service, atmosphere and the attention to the smallest detail, makes you linger over your meals, and look forward to you next trip.
I know that this constant level of excellence is a product of excellent management and training. The wait staff gives service that rival any restaurant anyplace, but with that extra southern charm.

“Lousy service at the Bar.”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

Incredible. Mickey is not only the best GM of any restaurant in Charleston but definitely in the top 10 in the Southeast. How such lousy service at the bar could get by him is amazing. Live in Charleston and am a frequent customer of many of the best restaurants in the city. Went in for a drink or two and a bite to eat. Was not asked if I would like to see the appetizer menu or the full menu. Never even given nuts/dry snacks as other bar patrons were. Bartender named Taylor spent most of his time talking about the Citadel and Grand Marnier to Citadel graduates. Have been stopping by this bar for over 25 years and this bartender is the least professional I have encountered at Charleston Grill. Teresa is superb but was not working tonight. Went elsewhere for dinner.

“Fine dining at it's best.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

It is an expensive venture, but for any special occasion it is very impressive and an event. We ordered the tasting menu and loved everything that was served. It was a lot of food for me, but my son and husband loved every bite. There are many things on the menu that are so good, it is very hard to choose, which is why we ordered the tasting menu. I do not think you can go wrong ordering anything on this menu. The staff is excellent and the wait staff is absolutely excellent.

“Best Restaurant in A Hotel, Ever”
Reviewed May 26, 2014

The Charleston Grill is in The Charleston Place Hotel in downtown Charleston. We arrived early for a drink in the comfortable, club like bar off the lobby. Our table in the restaurant overlooked a small indoor garden that added to the atmosphere. There were six of us and we had a variety of entrees from the menu. I had a huge pork chop. Others had rack of lamb, the 22 oz ribeye steak, and the lobster pasta. Several ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer and my friend from Baltimore, Maryland who compares any crab cakes to those in Maryland said they competed nicely. The prices are high, but the portions are huge. Several of us had to take half the entree home which the wait staff bundled graciously. To sum up: Gracious, friendly, and highly efficient wait staff. Great atmosphere and fine food. Highly recommended.

“Chefs menu was wonderful”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

Great service, wonderful food. We tried the 6 course chefs menu with wine pairings and it was more like 9 courses. Highly recommend for a special evening!
