Decided to check this out when I visited Charleston a couple months ago. I was by myself and the maitre d made sure I was comfortable without looking at me like I was crazy for being alone. Placed me near the live music which was not the jazz that I was expected but still very pleasant. Server was attentive without being overbearing. Food was great.

The food and service were outstanding. The ambiance is very romantic. The prices were quite reasonable for this quality restaurant.

I would have subtracted a fraction of a point for not having a table ready when promised and they ran a half hour late. The food however made up for any inconvenience. They definitely are prepared for gluten free with a selection of 2 breads. The chef could improvise and make it delicious !! Service was adequate for later dining,, and as we didn't want to stuff ourselves late at night, the wait staff got over the disappointment of not serving a large meal. The tip doesn't ALWAYS have to equate with quantities consumed!

We were staying in the hotel and heard that the jazz at the Grill was among the best in the city, so we booked dinner there. The service was impeccable. The dining room was elegant. The jazz was OK. The food was adventuresome and pricey. If you are used to big city Northeast food, you will be a bit disappointed.

We usually do our best to avoid the restaurant at the hotel. Most are truly disappointing, but there are exceptions. This is one. As so often happens when traveling, our circumstances dictated our options for dinner and we reluctantly fell into Charleston Grill. It was our good fortune. The meal was splendid. The truly wonderful maitre d', Mickey, led a service staff that is superbly trained and just the right amount of friendly. There were four of us and and we ordered three different dishes - steak, salmon, and flounder. Each was beautifully presented, wonderfully conceived, and cooked just right. And,they tasted great. I can only rave about a side of caramelized cauliflower prepared with olive oil and fig bits. Fig bits and cauliflower don't seem natural mates, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating and this is a superb dish. All in all, a terrific dinner in a wonderful place.
