“Outstanding food. Charming ambiance.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

This restaurants earns its reputation as one of the top restaurants in Charleston. It features Southern Specialties with some eclectic creativity. We had a party of five, with adults and older teens and everybody was very happy with their choices. Here's what we ordered: She Crab Bisque (we all tasted it!), Shellfish on grits (outstanding), Ahi Tuna (cooked perfectly), Flounder (my daughter's first try - and she loved it), Buttermilk Fried Chicken (delicious), caesar salad, and mac & cheese (made with gruyere!). For dessert we had the famous brownie a la mode (disappeared in a couple minutes) and the creme brulee (melt in your mouth). Need I say more? ... Here goes: DEFINITELY put this restaurant on your bucket list for Charleston. Will spend about $50pp inclusive of everything, and it is well worth it. Plan ahead because you must make reservations, probably days in advance. There is free parking right next door with validation.

“Southern at its Best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

We stumbled in on this restaurant by accident and let me start by saying that even though we showed up for lunch in casual touristy clothes, they didn't relegate us to the back of the restaurant. We were instead placed right up at the front of the house in front of the glass window -- best seat in the house. I notice things like that and really appreciate their true hospitality and lack of attitude. That was a great start...but then the food...it was Southern on Steroids! It took common Southern dishes but put such an interesting and unique twist to make the visit memorable...only compounded by the fact that they were successful and their food was absolutely delicious -- perhaps the best of our entire Charleston trip! As but one example, BLTs are common place, and fried green tomatoes are commonplace in Charleston...but how about jalapeno cornbread BLT with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes? Yup, that is a sandwich I can get behind! My husband loves fried chicken and his dish was delicious and complete with biscuits, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and creamed corn. Now THIS is what we imagined Charleston is all about!

“Exceptional Dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

This restaurant is a must-do when you come to Charleston. The service is impeccable but more than that the food is exceptional. Every bite explodes with flavor in your mouth and all you can say is WOW!. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and I had the Shrimp and Grits for dinner and hubby had the Cornmeal Crusted Flounder and we both LOVED our meals. Wish we could have had dessert as well but we were simply too full. This is Southern dining at its best.

“A Charleston Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

This was my family's second visit to Magnolias. The service was top notch and the food even more delicious than we had remembered. Parmesan crusted flounder was a huge hit as well as the shellfish over grits. We will definitely be returning.
