My only regret with our dinner at Magnolias is that we had a huge lunch that day and so we weren't as hungry as usual when dinner time rolled around. We basically stuck to the Small Plates section of the menu. Two of our party had the Lowcountry Bouillabaisse - YUM!! The other had the Blue Crab Bisque and the Peppercorn Crusted Tuna. Everything was wonderful. The service was excellent and even though we showed up late for our reservation they kindly worked us in without too much of a wait although I would recommend you make reservations. Nice ambiance and will definitely be returning but this time with a hearty appetite.

We chose Magnolia's based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Magnolia's is just one of many fine restaurants in Charleston, but it is now our favorite. The decor is stylish without the tightly spaced tables that seem to dominate many of the upscale restaurants. There is no background music (which was refreshing), just the low purr of table converstion and the soft clinking of tableware. The service is just the right blend of friendliness and attentiveness, never overbearing. The food was delicious! We passed on appetizers knowing we would be ordering dessert. My husband and I bucked a wine order and had gin and tonic instead. The drinks were perfectly prepared. Our entrees were filet of beef with a crab cake and lamb chop (as advertised) with crab cake. Both meats were cooked to perfection. The crab cakes had no visable fillers.... how they maintained their shape is a mystery. The cakes were nicely seasoned and placed over a bed of spinach which was cooked to the correct doneness. The filet and two lamb chops (one more than advertised, a bonus), each seasoned just right, lay beside the restaurant's version of scalloped potatoes. Excellent! The portions were filling enough that we doubted our decision to have dessert. But, we gave in and ordered pecan pie (in house made) and brulee'. My husband is not usually a fan of pie crust, but he ate every morsel of the pie. The generous serving brulee' was perfectly browned and topped with a strawberry and accompanied with a homemade lemon shortbread cookie. Thank you to Genevive, our waitress, for outstanding service.

This was our second visit to Magnolia's and once again we had no complaints! The service was great...the server knew the menu inside and out. The food was awesome...great southern dishes made to perfection! Even the kids menu was great! Highly recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and the Pork Chop dish. We will be back on our next visit to Charleston!

My husband and I went toeat here for lunch and they were booked up, so we made reservations for the next day. It was well worth the return! The food was outstanding. We had a french waiter, I am sorry to say I don't remember his name but I woud ask forhim if we ever go back. He was great!

We've been to this wonderful city many times, however for some insane reason, we've never been to Magnolia's before today. This was by far one of the best meals ever! We had a reservation for 8 pm so we thought we'd go to the Vendue Inn rooftop bar for drinks and appetizers late afternoon. It was windy and chilly on the roof, so we left and walked by Magnolia's. When we checked out their lunch menu we decided to see right then and there what all the buzz was about. We cancelled our dinner reservation and were immediately seated at a window table. Our server, Jacob, was terrific ... knowledgeable and very attentive. With so many wonderful choices and feeling just a bit hungry having only eaten an early breakfast, Jacob made a few recommendations. We both decided on the Parmesan Crusted Flounder, one of Magnolia's signature dishes. WOW is all I have to say!!! We shared the Wadmalaw field green salad w/crumbled bleu cheese and a lingonberry vinaigrette ... delicious! We took our time dining, but thought a sweet might be unnecessary until our server told us about the pecan pie w/bourbon caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. We caved and were so happy we did ... it was amazing! By the way, the flounder at dinner would have been $28, the lunch portion was probably just the same portion as at dinner and was a mere $15. We will definitely be back when in town ... Magnolia's lives up to and even surpasses their reputation!
