The restaurant was just a few blocks from the hotel. At 1:30 there were a few parties waiting on the awning covered benches outside on the side street. No problem as it only took about 15 minutes for the 4 groups ahead of us to get seated. When we did get called, we found the restaurant to be small to medium size room of comfy wooden tables. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Ice tea was virtually bottomless. We had the fried shrimp baskets with fries and one with fried okra. They were very good lunch baskets. The marinated cucumber at the table was a nice touch.

Good soul food. We ordered the fried chicken. You get half of a chicken! WOW! Good meal and nice servers. The owner is a very nice lady. She was accommodating and made sure that our needs were taken care of. I would recommend this restaurant for small groups visiting from out of town.

The Coca-Cola Cake was great!

Jestine's was recommended to us and didn't disappoint. Southern cooking at its best; fried okra, collard greens and pecan crusted whiting. All at a reasonable price. I was only disappointed that grits was not on the menu that night. Oh yes, corn bread, yummy..

Another great place in Charleston. Off the beaten path, but a must for down home eating. Friendly staff and accommodating to our party of six was no problem. We searched them out after our Fort Sumter tour, and arrived just after the lunch crowd was getting out. Great food, cold drinks, great waitstaff, Nothing more to say!!

My husband and I shared an appetizer of the fried green tomatoes and the fried chicken dinner with an extra side and wound up being stuffed. The chicken was done to perfection; crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Service was a bit slow and the environment is a bit campy, but we love visiting places like this. We had a 25 minute wait, but enjoyed the time chatting with others and one another. This place is definitely not for everyone and not a place I would go for a special event, but lots of fun and the value can't be beat!
