“great find where the locals eat”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

We found this place on our way to Drayton Hall. We were there for breakfast and the food was tasty with huge portions. Service was friendly, but we also noticed the wait staff also ran the register, so it got a little crazy periodically if several tables departed simultaneously.

They serve breakfast all day. Also would be a good place if you have kids.

“always consistently good.”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

This is our "go to" favorite place where ever we are in town. Staff is always pleasant, very efficient, food is excellent, and we have never had a bad meal. It feels like we are at home in our own kitchen every time we come here. The staff knows us well enough that they bring our drink orders when we sit down, and are always pleasant. None of them have a "set" table, so if a beverage needs to be refilled, someone is always checking, your dirty dishes are picked up as soon as you're done eating and you never have to flag down "your waitress", to figure out who can help you. We really love this place. Several of the wait staff have been there for many many years, and it is a family run business.

Love the atmosphere. As good as thebusiness is, they really need more room. The t-shirts "got grits?" were too cute. Grits were phenomenal

“Surprised by mediocrity and the WORST BACON EVER!”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

I had heard such good things about this Charleston staple and having recently moved to that part of town, I decided to give it a shot on a busy Saturday morning. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated as the place was full but you could tell the friendly staff was working hard and it wasn't a problem waiting. However, once we were seated we had to wait quite a while before we could order and then again for our food. While our server was super friendly, I just felt like she may have had too much to do.
The food here was supposed to be great, but I found it to be just average dinner food. Think Waffle House with a tad bit more charm. My eggs were good, the potatoes were over salted and burnt, the pancake was rubbery, and my bacon! Oh the poor bacon! It was thin, burnt and the only flavor left in it was grill grease. I've burnt bacon and had it taste better. I can say that this is the only place that I've ever not finished a slice of bacon that was on my plate. It was BAD!
Good value overall and I'm sure this one review won't sink them, but just beware the bad bacon!

“Terrific place for lunch”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

The cafe is conveniently located outside Charleston near the plantations on the Ashley River. We stumbled upon it while looking for a place to have a late lunch after a visit to Drayton. We didn't expect much given its unpretentious appearance, but we were pleasantly surprised -- by the variety of the menu, the quality of the food, and the incredibly friendly and attentive service. We highly recommend it.
